JustBananas's Journal, 01 Nov 20

For the last 5 days I have packed, moved, and unpacked (about 95% done). It is exhausting work, and you can add in there 2 (walked) trips to the grocery store, hefting back heavy bags on my shoulders. Plus today will include about 4 loads of laundry (somehow moving wrinkles everything).

Plus side: this apartment is about 1/3 bigger than my old one. I can have a pet here (will get a cat, as my fenced patio does not have a lawn for a dog). I've already met half a dozen of my neighbors and they're all friendly but not TOO friendly (the nosy/gossipy mean types).

Best of all, my stress level has gone down tremendously today. It's like one, big sun salutation. I'm out of a toxic environment, and the worst of the moving is over (though am monstrously sore everywhere, plus have bruises all over my arms & legs from the bashing boxes and furniture).

I saved unpacking the bathroom for last, today's chore, and plan on stepping on the scale once I've revealed some floor space currently covered in boxes.

Happy All Saints Day, everyone!

Thank you, ChooChoo and Melissa! My muscles ache but it's a good pain, since I have so much to show for the "workouts" of the last 5 days. Even carrying the laundry basket hurts!

Hi Mary -- good luck with helping your friend move (worth its weight in gold). My previous neighbors were so mean they would yell insults at you out their windows or while in the parking lot. Just pure meanness mixed in with the gossip. I did my best to ignore them and never spoke to them at all, but hate fuels more hate in them. Toxic environment to the Nth degree.

Why did you have to walk so far carrying STUFF. I hope that won’t be an ongoing issue, but it does burn calories— the silver lining.

Moving is exhausting. I'm sure you are glad to have it mostly over with. Good neighbors can be treasures.

Hi Kenna: actually, it's only in the U.S. that walking to & from the store seems appalling. Elsewhere in the world, it's their everyday lifestyle, and hence, why they're overall much thinner and healthier. When I moved to this new location, it was a goal to revamp my day-to-day with constructive exercise and a diet free of processed foods. So far, so good!

Hi Kattay: met quite a few good neighbors doing all that laundry today (4 loads became 8. All the blankets used as padding for the move had to be washed).

Moving from one apartment to another is hard, even when the new apartment is nearby. I've been there. I hope nothing gets broke or lost. 🍀
