JustBananas's Journal, 27 Sep 20

Spent an hour in my closet this afternoon, pulling shirts and dresses off hangers and viewing each piece with hope. Most of it was acquired while I was in school full-time, in anticipation of the job search/interviews/first job with newly attained degree. I had Smalls and a few Mediums, sizes ranging from 2 up to 6. Within a year of working, I had put on 20 pounds, then the following year it was like I was a runaway train, blowing up to about 180 (a guess, as I didn't own a scale at the time).

Quarantine, buy scale, begin diet. Work from home in soft clothing.

My favorite pair of jeans, which used to be a little baggy, goes over my thighs but there is no way I can button them without a shoe horn. The end result would be the largest muffin top on the planet, so it's a "let's revisit this in 15 lbs."

My dresses and shirts that are size M all fit, though barely, like if I stepped away from the mirror without perfect posture, people would see that it wasn't the best choice. There's a safety pin through the button holes on most of the shirts, evidence of last year's weight gain, trying to keep the too-small clothes from gaping open. The safety pins aren't needed now. The size S stuff is at least 20 pounds from entertaining at this stage.

Overall, the progress is there, despite what my bathroom mirror tells me each morning. There's plenty of time to lose the rest of the pounds, since my office announced that we're all still going to be working from home at least until the New Year. I'd like to lose another 20 by January.
