Day 1 of a planned 5 day fast

I ate so much food yesterday that I decided I wont try to step on a scale until Wednesday :( Family in from out of town. Huge sit down dinners. I have no self control once I start eating. Never had, and after losing 30 lbs. this year, nothing has changed.

Fasting works for me. I am ok fasting a few days a week as my permanent program. Dr. Fung still fasts.

The good thing is that I decided to 'water fast' all week (no solid food and <6 carbs a day). I have never even tried this before. My normal intake is 20-40 carbs a day on a 'liquid fast'.

Let's see how it goes!

Something I have been trying to do when posting comments to others on this site is to not try to tell anyone else to do anything. I try to only say "This is what worked for me...". Man that is really hard! Hahah

But, this is powerful, for example, I read this journal post by @northernmusician that simply told of his weight loss method: https://bit.ly/2m4lLAn

Good luck with the fasts. Is it hard to get started? Is the first day the worst? I do 16:8 Intermittent Fasting and I am starving by the 15th hour.

@jessa_sparkle - If I wake up and do not eat, I do not experience 'actual hunger' for the day (for me this is caused by my blood sugar falling). I DO experience 'mental hunger' ("I want to eat!") :) I tried IF but once I start eating I take in 100+ carbs! Kinda not the point as I understand it Hahahah

I too am staying away from that dang scale for a few days. It's messing with my head. Go Go Go, you fast master!!!!

@chesgreen - Haha never forget, no one on FS is at bad as fasting as I am! I mean McDonald's Milk shakes! Really?? :)

"I have no self control once I start eating. Never had, and after losing 30 lbs. this year, nothing has changed." I feel your pain, brother. It gets easier, as long as that's where your mind is, succumbing to temptations is easy, too. Got to keep the psychological aspect of it in check.

@Phil - Agreed. And I *am* slowly changing. The key word being 'slow' however...

The fasting is a great way of adapting and changing behavior, a total re-programming is what it takes to succeed. You got this, there's no deadline

If I could get more of Phil's and Ade's discipline to rub off on me, I would be UNSTOPPABLE!!!! Muhahahaha. I like that Phil "there's no deadline"

@Phil - Again, you are correct. I have been at this fasting for months now and I just got back from my afternoon walk at lunch. The thought of actually eating food at lunchtime is COMPLETELY foreign to me now. Lunch time is *now* walking time! (today sucked because it 94 degrees in LA due to a heatwave). This is a massive change.

Just take it in increments, Adef, never forget that you're in control. Ay, Ches, you're a damn beast, don't sell yourself short, brother!
