Day 3 of a planned 11 day fast

On day two of the fast I felt totally fine. That was the problem. In the past I expect a little 'Keto Flu' of discomfort when my body switches from burning stored glucose to burning glucose created from converting fat to glucose (this is "gluconeogenesis" at work - https://bit.ly/2H2WBLA).

Mostly I did not feel the 'euphoric' mental feeling that makes fasts enjoyable for me. I did walk in the afternoon and evening (to go to the store to get materials so my wife could make us some bone broth), so I had 15k steps for the day, but it wasn't enough. I took a blood glucose reading and it was 84. While this is a normal range, keep in mind I haven't eaten in two days.

So, even though it was getting dark, I laced up the tennis shoes and went for a 5 mile run. As always the first mile, I wanted to turn back. After the first mile I felt fine. On mile 3 I started to feel 'euphoric' mentally. I got back and did a reading and I was down to 70 (this is really low). But, I was at a respectable 22k steps for the day. Time to go to bed.

I woke up this morning with a reading of 84 (ok fine, this is apparently what my body wants to be). I had a ton of energy and went for another run. When I got back I took a reading and was down to 63! Opps that is too low. I allowed myself a cup of sugary cappuccino to avoid the effects of hypoglycemia (https://mayocl.in/2xXjhwv). I felt totally fine afterwards.

Bone Broth

After reading the Dr. Fung books:

"The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss" - https://amzn.to/2sAbluO

and

"The Complete Guide to Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting" - https://amzn.to/2LV5yci

Dr. Fung basically only allows coffee, tea, and bone broth on a fast. And, the bone broth MUST be homemade (he calls anything else a poor imitation). So I printed out the recipe and the wife and I laced up our tennis shoes and went for the three mile walk to the store and I carried the 6 pounds of bones and other ingredients back home (this is how we roll these days!). This stuff is a pain to make (for her at least!) and it is STILL simmering in the crock pot 20 hours later. I hope to enjoy it tonight :)
