It’s been 5 whole days of eating low carb, high fat and exercising. I feel good but weekends always derail me. I’m really good at doing this for a week, maybe 2 and then the weekend comes around and I give in and quit. Any advice to overcome this?

Just remember why you began this journey. How bad you want to get healthier. You can do it! Be strong! 💪. I look at food that I shouldn’t have as poison to my body. Keeps me from touching it.

You know what usually happens, now create a plan that could help to counteract that. Good work on the 5 days!

Try meal prepping for the weekend. You can also try and add a few more grams carb or fat on weekends for a bit and slowly get to a point where you don't need it. That way you're still tracking but not over doing it.

What works for me is planning for and preparing KETO friendly food that mimic carbs in terms of taste and texture. Whipped cream with some 90% dark chocolate melted in is like dark chocolate mousse and a small portion has a calorie and carb count that is manageable. Keto bread grilled cheese or mashed cauliflower with butter or cheese feels rich and satisfying and can reduce the urge to go off plan. I have been on modified KETO for a year now with Christmas and my birthday as the only cheat meals. Can honestly say that I do not have carb/sugar cravings anymore. Down 60 pounds and feel fit and strong. I also take the weekend off from the gym as recovery time.Helps to reduce cortisol levels. Hope this helps.

There are just the two of us so I guess it's easier. In the beginning George was banned a few times lol but since I got control of it he is now allowed to eat chips in the house! I think in time it will get easier for you Momma6224 good luck!

Thank you so much everyone for the advice and encouragement! I love FS and this supportive community. Now to tackle the weekend and not give up! 5lbs lost in 5 days is definitely encouraging 🙂

Relaxing on weekends and being strict during the week is a maintenance plan. You're not there yet. If you want to get to goal you can't do that, if you're happy where you are, fire away. That's exactly what I say to myself.

I think the “reward” concept is a killer.. “ I’ve been good so I can cheat a little” - at least for me. And my wife is big on big, family breakfasts on weekend... but now instead of seeing Saturday as a reason to “reward” my good behavior, I see it as a challenge.. to stay on track. Two poached eggs for me today on English muffin w/ 1/2 bottle of kambucha! If I avoid the pancakes I’m giving myself a mental high-five!

I look at it as a challenge to eat what my family is eating, or a variation of it. My family had cereal and my wife had eggs and toast and I had an omelette (check it out on my profile). Mental high five and I got an awesome breakfast
