We celebrated Father's Day yesterday, because today my husband starts his pre-surgical diet. He's having a gastric sleeve done on the 28th, and so for the next week his food choices will be very limited. Like, two 4-6 oz servings of protein and 1-2 cups non-starchy veggies for lunch and dinner, plus a protein shake for breakfast and 2-3 snacks from an approved list. He goes on a total liquid diet a week from tomorrow, so I think this week he'll try to limit calories to around 1600 or less. I don't want to eat a bunch of bad food in front of him, so our grocery shopping was Spartan, to say the least. I did indulge myself with some chocolate oatmeal for breakfast, that will be the only grain for today.

So yeah, yesterday we had some ice cream, brats and tots, and I baked a flourless chocolate cake that turned out to be pretty good. I served it with whipped cream and strawberries. We also had Mexican for lunch - last time for at least a month, I think. So far I've gained only 1/2 lb this weekend, which I think is pretty good all things considered. Hopefully if I follow the diet with my hubby I'll drop a few more lbs next week. Fingers crossed!
