I need some advice. My mom asked me not to lose anymore weight but I feel like I need to lose another 6 lbs. I've never and don't have an eating disorder so I would love to be able to eat my daily calorie allotment.
I'm 55 yrs young, 5'7, about 144, was 201 lbs 11/22/15 so yea, I look thin compared to then. I just want to fit a size 10 and I almost do but very tight. I did it losing a lb a week, now I am losing about a lb a month. Such a great problem to have! I used to look at people with under 20 lbs to lose and think "Gee, why are they here?" My bad but proof Fatsecret is a great tool and works if you put in the effort!
To me, its because I was obese that I look like I'm getting too thin to her, I was a thin child. A penny for your thoughts? (I'm on a budget lol)

I agree, go with your gut instinct on this. You do look amazing. A Short Story for you----- I have always been over weight one degree or another. So when I decided (a few years back) to lose weight to impress my Dad (I was a heavy lunch/246 lbs) I got down to 146 by the time his plane hit the ground in PA. He was impressed but right away said, "Peggy don't you think you need a little working weight?+ His opinion mattered to me. That was the last time I tried to lose weight and of course my weight came right back because I was losing it for the wrong reason. Now I am losing it for myself!! And I will succeed. :)

I know it's not really respectful but my mom can be very overbearing so I tell her I'll do me and you do you. You have to do what's right for you. If you feel you need to drop 6 pounds, then drop 6 pounds. You look fantastic! :-) ~ Andi

Just hug your mom and love on her, and thank her for caring so much about you. Of course she wants you to be healthy. And obviously, so do you. You look fantastic, you've done the hard work - and whether you lose another ounce or 3 or 4 more pounds - is really better left undiscussed amongst those who might be 'naysayers'. Focus on adapting to your new healthy lifestyle and transitioning towards 'maintenance' of your efforts. Those last few pounds will come off and your Mom and others really will not likely even be able to tell. YOU will - and that's all that really matters. Great job.

Only you can decide on your ideal weight. I once lost a ton of weight and hit the goal I had set with my doctor. I maintained that for awhile, bought all new clothes, and was loving being thin & healthy. I was so excited I decided I would lose just 5 more pounds so I'd have 'wiggle room'. That 5 pounds was extremely hard to lose and impossible for me to maintain. I managed it for awhile but I was hungry & had to work out so much it was unrealistic. I felt so deprived that when I started to slip, I couldn't stop. I kind of became a binge eater and was horrified and embarrassed when the weight came back fast. So... if you are determined to lose more, listen to your body, not your mom. Also, PLEASE don't be hung up on sizes. Women's sizes vary tremendously. When I used to wear suits to work my expensive suits were size 8 and my cheaper suits were size 12! BTW, you look great!

Thanks EVERYONE so much for your positive feedback! For everyone struggling, one day/one meal at a time, easy does it. If I can do it you can!

Hi I don't usually comment entries here, this is my first comment. When I am looking on your actual photo, I think you look great and you don't need to loose another weight. You must only stay on your actual weight, what is sometimes bigger problem. Have a nice day P.S. Sorry for my english :-)

You look great! Maybe ask your doctor, I can e-mail mine questions now and he does answer. This way you can put your Mom's fear to rest if the doctor says it's okay.

Maybe you just need to try different brands of clothes? I am 56 yrs, 5'7 also, but I am 164 and my goal is 150, maybe. I started at 200lbs wearing a 2x I am just going from large to medium top and size10 to 8 pants. At 150 I'm sure I would be a size 6 pants. I am happy with size 8 though. Losing weight I look older because I'll have more skin sag and wrinkles, so because of that I'm not sure I'm going to take it all the way to 150. I know people can all be built different but you look smaller than a 10....just sayin.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Svadjdenka and for the compliment AND thanks to EVERYONE for your kind words and advice. But seriously, my comment would have really annoyed me a year ago if someone else posted it. Its been a battle every hour of every day logging and tracking but got easier after about 6 months. I look at the calories on everything and rarely eat out, don't know how anyone does it eating out, when you don't know how many calories are in your food. xoxo

When your heavy you can lose 6 pounds and no one would ever notice. My thought is... to lose the six pounds if you feel better, you are not underweight. Just don't talk about it :) Anything but that 6 pounds! Soon enough you will "appear" perfectly normal (for you) and the inspections will stop. You do look healthy and if you decide to reconsider the weight numbers, your still gold!
