My 19 year old son and I scaled over 800 feet in 28 minutes to get to the top, 1137 feet, of Mt Tom this past Sunday. I had to stop a few times to check my heart rate and kept each stop to less than 2 minutes once I determined my heart rate was at 70 percent intensity for my age. My legs and butt are sore. This is another accomplishment exactly two weeks since my half marathon. This event was unplanned for us. My son was telling me about the prior weekend where he did climbed it with his buddies and it took them 2.5 hours to go up and a little over 2 hours to go down. There are 22 miles of trails at this Mountain. We just happened to take the most direct path to get up. Getting leaner, stronger, and faster. In a good place right now.

That is terrific! I love it when we can keep up with our kids . . . I ran with my 14 year old and he is always surprised I keep up and sometimes surpass him :) Keep it up!

70% of heart rate - nice. In my workouts we wear heart rate monitors throughout and I average 15 minutes out of 55 minutes at 86% or above...great training of your heart muscle.
