Went to the doctor today for my monthly weight loss check. He doesn't think I am eating enough calories or carbs, afraid of starvation mode. I lost 10 pounds since I saw him a month ago. If I eat the 1800-2000 calories he wants me to I won't lose anything! I am afraid to eat more. Went to see the new Star Wars movie. OMGosh! I loved it! May the force be with you!

10 lbs, that's terrific. If your Dr. thinks you should eat more, maybe you could try just bumping up your intake by 50-100 cals and see what happens. I haven't settled on a plan or program to use, so am still gaining. I've gained at least 8 lbs in the last 3 months. I started cardiac rehab and thought I would lose, but not yet. Not looking forward to all the good eats for Christmas. I don't seem to have much self control. So glad you enjoyed the Star Wars movie. I want my husband to take me for my birthday on Sat. I wish you a Merry Atkins Christmas. Keep up the good work.

I think your progress looks AWESOME! And it looks like you are eating good food. The one thing I might suggest is if you are going to up your calories (average 1200 maybe?) up your fat a little. It doesn't take much fat, maybe a few nuts or coffee with coconut oil to up it a little. Your fat seems a little low in conjunction to your protein. I can't wait to hear others respond to "starvation mode". I think I was just reading on here about it being a myth....

I think it's great that you lost 10 lbs. That being said, I would heed your doctor's warning. Does your doctor know what type of diet you are doing? Did you ask your doctor for any suggestion's on what type of food's you should incorporate into your diet? Without looking at your diet chart, How many calories are you getting a day v's how much exercise? It's a learning process. Without really knowing your "health" history I think it would be unwise to tell you what you should or shouldn't do,however; I am here to support you anyway I can. Don't lose heart, you will lose the weight you want just don't do it too fast so it will stay off and keep off. May the force we with you as well. I am hoping Jimmie and I can go see it. Our kid's and grand-kiddo's already have. Truly, Jen

Ugh! Dr.s are the worst! I don't plan on setting another one unless I have something cut off that I need sowen back on...lol. Ask him how long his nutrition course was that was still based on bad science. Share some educational websites with him like dietdoctor.com , mericola.com, marksdailyapple.com , etc. Or just take the easy way out and tell him that you're just laying off of sugar. Dr.s kill me! They tell you to lose weight, and then act some type of way when you do. Keep doing what you're doing, and don't forget whose dietary advice got us into this mess in the first place.

Starvation mode is a complete myth (until you get to about 4% body fat)! Our bodies store fat, so that we can burn it in times of little food. That's the whole reason behind storing it. The body would not store something that it didn't intend on using.

Crash losses means easy to gain back ... longterm slower losses with good nutrition will pay off better and you'll have better overall health...doctor is wise here... in your heart you know that ... be smart here...

I see my cardiologist in January. If he tells me to eat more, I'm going to invite him to lunch.

You are the ultimate judge of what your body needs for intake. I would not be afraid of starving to death, simply not getting the right mix of food. I have heard nothing but praise for Star Wars. I'm a fan that will see it soon.

The Dr. is wrong period. You do not need to increase your carbohydrate intake. Your liver produces Glucose from incoming Protein, "Gluconeogenesis". Starvation mode is a myth, as FatGirlJenny said, it's only once you get below essential body fat that you are in any danger. You stored fat for a reason, let your body use it for energy. As for 10lbs in a month, ....on LCHF i'd consider that decent, but not exceptional progress. For those that say "slow and steady weight loss...or you'll gain it back". Completely disagree, why pull the Band-Aid off slowly? If you have a fat loss plan that is sustainable long-term, i.e., Low Carb High Fat, and not a cabbage soup diet void of any incoming energy, then lose it as fast as your plan allows. Co-worker i'm coaching, 353lbs August 1st, 252lbs 12/21, low carb high fat, plenty of energy, new recipes, new way of eating, better understanding are the keys. If you have that you're good.

You can follow the doctors advise or listen to your body :)

1800 to 2000 calorie sounds like a lot I agree you may not be able to lose weight or much but the other thing you can always do is to increase your activity level and ask to speak with a nutritionist I have seen many Hospital nutritionist suggest 15 - 1800 calories not the 2000 that your doctor is talking aboutN

And Dr. was very very happy with my BGLs. Impressive reduction thru diet alone he said. UMMMM, I thought you didn't like my diet! LOL! I am making him sound worse than he really is, he is very kind and concerned. Just a worry fart!
