Someone mentioned Optimal Ketogenic Living the other day. Checked it out and got my macros. Would love to hear from others who are following macros.

My whole approach is macros followed by total calories. I do 65% fat or more, about 25% protein, and less than 10% total carbs. Good Luck!

HCB, may I ask what your macros are? on the OKL facebook they talk about hitting the macro number, not to worry about %'s. I find myself getting less and less hungry and have not been meeting the macros they suggest even tho my % is in line....

my macros from OKL would be 94 protein, 23 carb, 70 fat. This is different than what I normally strive for which was fat higher than protein. (low carb high fat medium protein) There is a ton of info on their facebook but seems so complicated for a beginner...even tho I have been eating this way since january.

HCB, my macros are very similar... * 1200 kcal Goal, a 37% deficit. (710 min, 1890 max) * 30g Carbohydrates - 10% - lower if possible * 80g Protein (71g min, 117g max) - 25-26% * 84g Fat (30g min, 161g max) - 64-65% ----

I use percentages because we all have different caloric needs - grams will come out to equal calories numbers that may not be suitable for all people...I try for 100g grams fat or more, protein 60grams or more depending whether it is a lifting day or not, and NO MORE than 20 net carbs which is total carbs minus fiber count. And, "macros" just means your protein, fat and carbs - it really is not about grams. Once you choose your caloric limit per day - shoot for percentages of your total calories per day.

Hello! After entering my info into a keto calculator (http://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/) my macros came out to be: 73% fat, 23% protein, and 4% carbs. I set my daily calorie limit to 1800. I do stick to 20g or less of carbs and (when I stick to the plan religiously...journaling my food "if I bite it, I write it!"...plenty of water, etc.) I do GREAT! Lots of wonderful information on line for recipe ideas, weight loss success stories, etc. Best of luck to you!
