Kaylin this is highly scientific work we do here at OTB laboratories. You cant just jump right into a more toasted toast ! You must slowly go up in toastines to get proper data points for when I run my calorie cost analayis to see at what toastiness level fits my daily caloire bank. Soon I will break out the bunson burner, propane torch and maybe even the weed burner torch to see if different methods of toasting have different effects on my daily weigh ins and calorie consumption.

I also have a hypothesis that towards the higher end of the toastiness scale that we will actually see a slight drop in caloric value due to the loss of bread mass from the falling over toasted particles or as the less scientific people call them burnt crumbs.

Why thank you, OTB. i appreciate the methodical breakdown regarding your "toasty theory" research. I especially appreciate the terms "cost" and "bank" as they appeal to my professional disposition.
Please provide your experimental reportings to us as you progress in your delicious research

i agree. at some point, the toaster will burn the calories for you 🤣

My nutritionist told me that toasting bread doesn't change the calories it just lowers the glycemic index slightly.

My mom used to tell us to scrape off the burnt bits when she "over toasted" ( she was very frugal, no throwing out a piece of toast). I suspect a definite reduction in calories after scraping off the burnt bits from the the weed burner torch toast.

I learned that you can reduce the bread calories/insulin spike by storing the bread or potatoes in the fridge or freezer then toasting/reheating and it causes to be a more resistant starch with less calories/insulin spike.

I scrape toast unless I've used the weed burner torch.

My mother used to say if toast was burned to eat it because Charcoal is good for your stomach lol.

The toast test experiment is the highest level of importance for me. For far too long we have been left with more questions than answers. OTB labs are at the forefront of testing and innovation in toasty perfection. To prove my commitment to the cause I yet another one for the team and just purchased 5 additional loaves of bread. I wish I could have bought more but they only had 5 of the type I like and I need to keep close control on all variables of this scientific endeavor. I appreciate everyone's support in my research and when I publish I will be certain to give credit to each of your suggestions.

And we are also a scrap off the burnt part family lol there's good toast under there somewhere!! Additionally when I get to thw weedburner stage there the distance from the nozzle to the bread as well as the flame level setting will most definitely impact calories!!! So many questions... not enough answers....

2 more eggs and 3 more pieces of toast than my breakfast. And jam with the toast? I had home made raspberry.

And it’s good to know that toasting the bread burns away sone of the calories. I can now go back and revise my numbers down. I was curious how your 6 eggs and 6 pieces of toast were fewer calories than my 4 eggs and 3 pieces of toast. I’m sure the whole stick of butter I used to cook the eggs and spread on the toast had a small insignificant input into those calories. (No I didn’t use a full stick of butter, I used 3 one for each piece of toast)
