JustBananas's Journal, 31 Dec 22

Happy New Year's Eve 🎉

Final journal of 2022 is a report card of my efforts.

THE BAD:
Began the year at 128.4 lbs., ended at 132.8, which is a 4.4 lb. GAIN. As I was supposed to LOSE weight, this obviously deserves a Failing Grade.

THE GOOD:
I switched from a Vegetarian diet to Vegan/WFPB (Whole Foods Plant Based). ❤️I love it so much that I was able to stay faithful to it, and do not miss processed food at all. Finding a WOE that I don't feel tempted to cheat on is a major win, so I'm giving myself an A+.

Exclusively because of this change in diet, in 6 months I dropped my Total Cholesterol from 206 to 164, my LDL from 130 to 95, and my Triglycerides from 124 to 98. While my goal numbers for LDL & Trigs were lower, I still consider this drug-free accomplishment worthy of a B+.

Overall, I feel excited for 2023 and I'm committed to achieving all of my stated GOALS.💚💪🏻👁️🏆

Given where you started on the bloodwork, I vote that the good outweighs the gain 👍So glad the WFPB works for you -- a lot of people love it. Wishing you health and happiness in 2023 😊

@Peppy: Thank you for your vote of confidence! @Wyo: The gain is pretty minimal, and I'm at a BMI of 22%, which is solidly in the Healthy range, so I agree it's not as bad as blowing back up to 170 lbs. again. I am a firm believer in recognizing areas that need improvement, as how else do we avoid falling into that destructive behavior again? Repeat dieters never bother to fix their mistakes, which is why people pack on the pounds over Nov-Dec. I regained 9 lbs. over the summer because it was too hot to do my usual walking on my lunchbreaks. So as my correction, I now go to a Pilates class or dance in my living room during inclement weather.

I think you did great in 2022! You focused on the weight you gained which is only 6 ounces/month. You can lose twice that given your level of focus and determination!

@John: Well, it was 9 pounds in 2 months exactly. The goal is to lose 17 more pounds and hit 115. I gave myself the deadline of Halloween.

@Buenita: Thank you! Would love to see a recap and goals journal from you, too. You’ve yet to explain what prompted you to use Fat Secret (e.g. to get off of blood pressure and high cholesterol medication, to achieve a certain BMI). It makes it easier for us to encourage you and root for your measurable successes.

@justbananas I got on FS to loose weight and I'm Happy that this App is helping me do that , I'm losing inches, I had to buy new clothes, and get clothes taken in, I'm sure I would lose the weight faster if I was more active like a lot of you on here, but I'm not giving up it will happen, all my blood work is good, I'm healthy and happy, and yes I'm still trying to get off blood pressure meds, and that's the only meds I'm on, everything that I like to eat has salt. Eating vegetables every day is definitely a challenge for me, but I will master that too. I appreciate all the support and suggestions.
