I'm very interested in the latest improvements in ankle replacement surgery. Until recently, it really wasn't a very good option; what I'm reading gives me hope.

So pleased to hear that seniorme, they were not recommending it here in Houston until very recently. Once I've lost a bit more weight I will definitely explore my options. Thank you.

Shir- do you have arthritis or other issues? I have AVN degeneration in both ankles as a result of being on kidney dialysis years ago. The joints are now very arthritic and do not function properly due to the collapsed joint. Having bad ankles also messed up my knees from overcompensating. Ankle pain is very debilitating....I am also looking into the procedure at Duke this spring. All the best to you!

Chick, I have severe arthritis in my right ankle, probably from an old injury. I'm sorry to hear of your problems. I feel like I need to lose some more weight before I visit a doctor to see if I would be a candidate for an ankle replacement. Please keep me informed of what you find out at Duke and how it goes for you. Wishing you all the best, what a blessing it would be if you could be relieved of this painful burden.
