velvetee's Journal, 20 Nov 19

A controversial post, but I wanted to share my impressions. It kinda cracks me up, those WOE wars. To me, there are 2 aspects of nutrition. Of course, we all want results and they will differ, depending on a lot of factors. Age, health, current situation, personal goals and many more. Above relatively decent results that most aim for (again, it depends on a lot of things), there is balance and healthy eating in general, in the long term, it's not just about weight loss.

Yes, I get that if I have enough protein, I can swallow all the cabs in the world and still gain muscle and lose weight. Because I am a Greek Goddess who lifts. Owaaaa. But hell, I won't get healthier while eating Frosties combined with my protein shake EVERY SINGLE DAY, that's the point. With added vitamins, on the top, how cool. Of exceptional quality, vitamins in those Frosties, I bet. How about moderation and real nutrients?

Disclaimer, I also eat processed food from time to time, I personally prefer fats to carbs, but I don't advocate for everyday bacon bingeing either. I just enjoy it 1-2 times per week. And FWIW, I am lucky enough to be able to buy grass-fed organic meat. My blood sausage/bacon comes from a farm. So you chose your WOE, fine, but hell, accept that others have their own WOE and especially that technically eating processed carbs every f* day does not make you healthier in the long run, and without sticking studies into others' faces.

On the side note, I don't care if someone pops us and says my food is disgusting. I won't say they are ignorant, I'll just enjoy my plate as I always do. This awesome organic crispy sandwich for lunch yesterday, with smoked salmon, ricotta, tomatoes, and avocado. Skyr, granola, red currant for dessert. Then eggs, paprika, avocado, ricotta, lump eggs, tomato juice for dinner. Raspberries, almonds & a tiny tad of 80% dark chocolate. I am happy with my food. Yes, there are carbs too, hey. Burn me for your snack if you care. Have a great Wednesday!

Liv I meant 2 aspects: getting results and getting proper nutrients. Because some obtain results with unhealthier methods. I am all about “balanced” diets, woes and other words but somehow I cannot see how I can achieve that by eating 2 slices of cake per day even some super cool studies prove it. Oh wah, just add a little bit more protein with added vitamins and you’ll be fine. It’s not only about calories but also about nutrients we get. Coming from real food. I’m not propaganding excluding any group of macros. I just don’t agree with some posts because personally I don’t think that eating 1000cal of cake per day brings a lot of things nutrition wise. Even while adding proteins. It does not mean I restrict myself, I eat cakes too, very rarely, but I do. I am lucky, I don’t like it. I just firmly believe in cooking healthy, 80% of the time. There are people who can be muscular and healthy without protein powders 3 times per day. Phew.

Bells lump eggs 5 dollars/100gr. Caviar will be 100? I am not that rich to know lol

Chris, I’m bummed, sometimes I don’t see obvious things 😂 like the utility of your Frosties 😝 joke. My kid loves those by the way. And I never say no. I just give other healthier stuff on the side to compensate 😉

I've never seen these. I only had caviar once.

Bells the difference, it's cheap. If we dive in, it's easy to produce lump eggs, you have to wait years and years before being able to get caviar. Also, lump eggs usually contain colorants. Tho they are both rich in protein and low in calories. Well lots of salt, obviously but if you don't use any for your eggs, it flavours your plate. I like it from time to time. Another way to eat it, with boiled eggs. Yum.

Terrapin, if you eat your cake and protein, we've already created a super WOE. The Greek God WOE <3

I found some online - I think I'll try a jar. Looks like it's going to be along the lines of capers (as for the salty taste).

Please consider what people say is mostly related to his or her WoE and doesn’t apply to everyone. I’m twice your size Velvetee and want to see muscle growth. If I eat what you eat, I’ll lose muscle and fat at look like a flagpole. Your WoE doesn’t fit my goals and that’s OK. If I ate the cheese you eat, I’d have kidney stones (runs in the family). I also don’t eat the quantity of cake, cereal, and other treats. That doesn’t make sense in my head, but I can see where it works for others. My thing? Chocolate! I get it in protein bars, shakes, and of course candy bars. I also eat plenty of vegetables, fruit and other nutritious things, but I’d have to eat twice as much as you to support my health goals.

L2E there is something you didn't get from my post. I don't say people have to eat like me. Eat whatever you like and how you like it. I am saying, industrial food in big uncontrolled quantities is bad for most people, even if studies say that it's OK if you eat enough of protein (still industrial heh). Peace.

I didn’t exactly miss your point, just was using it as an example. Here’s an article about what (May) be wrong with processed carbs, but it seems the research isn’t clear. People that eat processed foods eat more. Eating countless carbs never works (Chris, DP, and Diablo all trust in CICO). My thinking from the research and examples here on FS is that eating at a deficit or maintaining a healthy weight along with exercise will bring a clean bill of health. https://apnews.com/c06a1200807c4b82a03452d08d480692

Pink! Hurray!

I wouldn’t eat that if I were you. Actually I would, because those tomatoes would cause food poisoning and I want to die after looking at your face

L2E I guess it's more fortunate to live where I live becauce CICO is not everything even if it does help those who need to lose a lot of weight. I wonder how they counted calories 150 years ago. Anyway, that's not the point. Even if you do CICO, let it be. It does not compute in my head how fantastic it can be for my body to get 1000 of protein and 1000 of cake, every day? Duh. You still have to balance somehow. Obviously, it's important to exercise but I think everyone theoretically knows it here? Again, peace.
