Congrats! I was a "horsey girl" growing up. Not nearly to the extent you were/are but I worked at a stable during my preteen and teenage years. I introduced my grandkids to horses but Chase, my granddaughter, is the only one who inherited my love. When she was 4 we pulled up to our friends stable, she got out, took a BIG BREATH & said "Meema/ Papa, don't you just love the smell of horses"? 💕 Congrats on getting back to it. You look great on the horses!

This is wonderful Melissa!! I am so happy for you! Congratulations on rediscovering your passions and getting back to things that excite you! I was thinking about us ladies fitting back into our wedding dresses yesterday, and i realized that fitting in that dress is about so much more than just fitting in that dress! At least for me, it’s about getting back to who I really am, who I was BEFORE I got swept up on this wild ride of motherhood, putting every single person and their needs before my own. I’ll be completely honest, (my kids are both in college now) it feels AMAZING to make choices and decisions based on what I want and what is best for ME!! And by putting myself first (as much as possible) I have improved my life so much already! It makes me want to cry just thinking about it! I’ve missed me!

Switz, I am 🎶! 😁 😁 And that old coat was my uniform riding in these temps in the past. My daughter "stole" it but I stole it back for yesterday. I think it was symbolic as much as anything. My great grandpa King died when I was in my 20's he loved me so much and he was very, very dear to me. ❤️

Aww, jheeden! You noticed me! They are beautiful horses! 😁 Wifey, that story is one of so many I've heard of ruined experiences with horses. It makes me so sad. They are powerful, dangerous critters in reality. I've been hurt terribly... Had such a bad accident I couldn't go back to college one year. But, I wish I could be with you and let you enjoy a sweet kind mare I know... Not to ride maybe but just to realize some are so very gentle and worth overcoming fear to enjoy. I worked for so many years at camps helping kids learn and grow in their respect and love of horses. I was not always safe myself, and I even scared my sister once who never felt safe on a horse again. To me it was no big deal... We just started racing. To her it made her scared to feel out of control. Funny thing is now she owns horses, and it is impossible for me to afford them in Seattle. I have rich friends! I am glad they remember me and trust my old skills can come back.

Erquiaga, You dear!!!! No, I never competed in either of those, although I did dressage riding. I competed in reining, which is a style of western riding. It is was developed using the skill a cow horse would need. The quick stops, turns, spins, lead changes... There are set patterns like in a dressage show, but everything is performed at a gallop. It is a bit crazy, but a highly trained reining hose is so light and supple and responsive. If at all interested, look up "reining" online. You might notice that these two horses I was riding are quite small. They are working quarters horses in breeding. They might be pretty, but it is agility and speed they need for their job! 😁
