Woke at 228.4, up 1.0 from yesterday. Grrr. Blood glucose pre breakfast was 86. Made another ground beef and egg frittata. Will check glucose again in an hour to see what I get. UPDATE: Blood glucose one hour after finishing breakfast was 105. Not as bad as yesterday's spike from 78 to 125. I need to read up a bit on the normal amount of blood glucose rise after meals. UPDATE: Checked WebMD and it had this info, which seems to indicate I'm good on both days: Normal blood glucose readings are less than 100 mg/dL after not eating (fasting) for at least 8 hours. And they're less than 140 mg/dL 2 hours after eating. UPDATE: Just checked weight at 4:15 pm and got to 227.2. I will eat some cheese and summer sausage and see what happens. UPDATE: Blood glucose before dinner was 93. Ate 1.5 oz of Gouda, 2 oz of summer sausage, 3 cups of spinach, a foil pouch of tuna, 12 ml of olive oil, and 15 ml of balsamic vinaigrette (that had some sugar in it). Blood glucose an hour later was 102. Decent.

As far as how food will impact readings (when keto) I see people post many different results so it is very individual what will happen and you may to find the combination of fat, protein and carbs that will work for you

small up and downs are meaningless but if you do not lose you may have to think about lower protein and higher fat

125 is fantastic. Doesn't apply to you(it's PSA time for diabetics) but when T1's go low carb they need to add insulin to cover fat and protein (at a lower ratio than is used for carbs). Pretty small number of people in this boat but it can cause confusion for very low carb T1's. PSA #2 Finger stick BG's are accepted to be only within 20% accuracy of a true blood serum test. Then, if you experiment and do multiple finger sticks on different fingers you will be dumbfounded. I've seen differences of 80 points on perfectly clean hands. So, it drives me nuts when the MD gets a scowl on their face and says that my BG is high at 100 when it should be 99 or lower.

It would be great if you borrow a CGM(continuous glucose monitor). It would make testing fun, fast and easy!

Your BS readings are good I think. One thing I think you should test ... are your diet sodas. I have heard that they will spike your blood sugar the same as real sugar just because it is sweet. Any thoughts on that?
