I have been noticing... and I mean this in the best way possible... I hope this does not offend anyone. It’s with best intentions...

The number on the scale really doesn’t mean much.

I see people post pictures of their body progress... some people weigh more than me but look more toned and better than I do... some people weigh less than me and I feel may appear larger than I am... I know this app is not for comparing and that’s why I am pointing this out... to bring attention to weight goals. the number really truly means nothing, in the end... it is how you feel, how healthy you truly are... so as we all explore this healthy lifestyle journey please don’t let the number be your only goal... aim for bettering yourself, your mind and your overall health!! And let your body take its time to lose weight because it didn’t get there over night... also each and every BODY on this app is so different and unique. Which is why I remind myself not to compare journeys, not to compare anything but instead stay present and motivated and excited for everyone’s successes!

This was mostly a message to myself to be gentle and patient and not focus on the number... but focus more on my self esteem, self discipline, consistency, self confidence, and my inflammation and energy levels. But who knows, maybe my inner dialogue can help someone else realize that this process is different for every BODY! So results will vary...

Could not have said it better myself. My first 100lbs off went unnoticed by family and friends... arrgh. Now I know and truly feel it's all about & for me.

@alnona do you see them often? I feel like people who you see quite often might not see the difference... but the people I see every few months have noticed my weight fluctuating... it went up and up and up for almost four years... and then it has trickled down over the last year... so I have received a few comments from friends here and there...

@moopie thanks! I am really excited this time around. I feel like this time I won’t even let a natural disaster stop me! Last winter I was doing sooooo great, but being evacuated and living in a hotel for a month, having very poor air quality and with no money or income made my WOE and exercise hard... this time around I can’t let anything stop me!

Keto lifestyle can be quick, simple and cheap! We have a 1 month headstart. Let’s do this!

@moopie yes, I am a picky food snob though. Kind of a hippie too. So organic and raw meats and cheese can be spendy. But we just got some chickens... so “free” eggs will be coming right up! I went from 107 to 167 in four years 😔 I wish I had more self discipline then... but PTSD is a bitch!!!

You have the self discipline to get to 104, it’s in you... just need to let it shine. The eggs with help a lot with cheap organic protein

Totally. Weight is really only useful (to overweight ppl like me at least) as a proxy for body fat %, which is more difficult to measure. & I completely agree with being patient and focusing on discipline and consistency. If there was a scale that measured how developed your "good" habits were, that's what I'd measure myself with. I want to know my urge fighting %, my motivation %, my positive attitude % :D ... so much of this is mental...

I go by my bodyfat percentage and my clothes. Recently I have had to focus on a number for my pre-surgery weight but body composition is more important to me

Absolutely. There truly is no one size fits all!

Agreed...Health first, Body fat %, strength and endurance are my measuring sticks... weight for me is just a measurement that helps determine trends and my daily (or hourly) hydration levels.

@steven I have weighed myself through the day to check hydration and water weight. My scale says that It calculates water, muscle, bone and fat... but i don’t think it’s accurate.

Thank you for your post... It's encouraging to see others relating to your post and speaking to their points of measurement. Mine is my health. My dearest measurement is my blood sugar. I have known I was a diabetic for twenty years now. I started down my path to stay as healthy as possible 10 years ago. Now over 100lbs lighter, with very good health numbers, my A1c in October was 5.0. I no longer take 3-5 insulin shots a day. I take less medications for diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure. I think I feel better than I have felt in 20 years! Many of us are proof of your post! Thank you. Blessings to all and Merry Christmas.

@tpharding I’m glad people could relate. Because sometimes scales are frustrating. And I definitely needed to remind myself it’s not really about a number. My goals may change especially if I start to work out hard and gain muscle (doubt it... but I’m trying to not limit my goals and routes I can take along this journey) Congrats on your journey, sounds like a successful one! That’s so amazing, less meds is definitely a major non scale goal for so many! Your story is motivating for them!! Merry Christmas to you!!!
