Day 4 of a planned 5 day 'no solid food fast'

Blood sugar 75 mg/dL

👍🏾 Finally lost some weight on my fast 😎

The big change yesterday was that I only drank Green Tea (with a LOT of Splenda) and miso soup during the day. I only had protein powder in my morning coffee and a 🥛 protein shake for dinner.

My goal was to keep my blood sugar low to minimize insulin. Waking up to a 75 reading this morning (with weight loss) vs. the 93 reading yesterday (with no weight loss) provides further evidence to me that keeping my blood sugar as low as possible, to keep my insulin production low, is beneficial for my weight loss.

There are only three things I can do to affect my insulin:

🌟 Control my exercise
🌟 Control what I eat
🌟 Control *WHEN* I eat

It is the third item that is really important for me. It is the basis of Intermittent Fasting. I do not believe I can lose much weight if my body is producing -large amounts- of insulin -all day-.

🧘🏾‍♂️ Mentally I want to 'consume something' during the day. It appears that Green Tea and Miso soup (what I have used in the past) is ok, but trying to consume protein shakes during the day is not.

🏋🏾 Today is a weight lifting day. I'm not going to 'carb up' but I will drink a protein shake before and after I lift. It will be harder to lift but I don't want to throw myself off when I am in weight loss mode.

Have a great day everyone!

that is a good thing Adef I know I probably get on your nerves sometimes. sorry about that. I will try to do better. I just know you would get both your goals easier. now I am going to go work a little more myself. I am having trouble with the machine being uneven in the pulls and have to be more careful to not pull out my back. once I get rolling I think I will plan to gym more

@baskington - I love the discussion :) Please be careful in the gym. I know that if I get an injury it will have a major negative impact on everything I am trying to do.

@nikeit - Thanks! But, you know I 'want' a 2 pound drop tomorrow :) However, I know I need to just be grateful what the current losses I have had.

Hoping your weigh lifting session goes well! But while we are giving you advise...it’s time to cut back on the Splenda... just saying... 😬😜

@CrashtestDawnie - Remember I don't smoke or drink. Splenda is my only DRUG! 😜

@jenjabba - I know! Right? :) But, my head is already into 'tomorrow'... I may have screwed up because I had TWO cups of 'salty' 3 carb miso soup. My carbs are up to 18 and I usually need 10 or less to lose weight (sigh).

That's a good system you have with keeping insulin low. However low blood sugar isn't exactly the best thing ever. when blood sugar is low then Glucogon is released to the liver telling it to create more glucose to try to keep blood sugar at a normal level. If you aren't consuming any sugar carbs then maybe your liver might be working too hard making glucose rather than just using glucose absorbed from carbs

@M S G - I'm not too worried about my liver. I don't drink or do any drugs (legal or otherwise). My food is 'minimal'. If my liver has to do some 'extra work' it is nothing compared to what most people put their liver through :)
