It’s been a tough week if I’m honest...been having painful/swollen tummy symptoms (already examined for sensation in my right side, need ultrasound), probably unrelated but interestingly my blood tests show I’m low in B12 Vitamin so need injections...this explains my lack of enthusiasm, very tired all the time...to be fair it’s been the worse year stress wise so put my low energy down to that (normal positive me is missing at mo) ...anyway I ate a huge steak last night and actually I feel refreshed this morning...anyone else had B12 boosts or food advice? Grateful, lovely FS friends ☺️

I’ve been having B12 injections for 5 years now, my body just does not absorb it through diet at all. I had been feeling really crappy, tired all the time, no energy etc and put it down to travelling for work. Had blood tests done and found out I had vitamin B12 and folate deficiency so had to have 6 injections over 2 weeks and then once every 12 weeks and take folic acid 500mg every day. I’ve stopped the folic acid now, that sorted itself out but still having the injections. You’ll find 1-2 days after the “top-up” you feel great and then you’re back to normal until your next one is due. About a week or two before you feel shattered so I always make my appointment early to save feeling like that. Hopefully you can improve your levels through diet changes, eat plenty of broccoli and green beans. I can eat them till their coming out of my ears and it doesn’t make a blind bit of difference. You can get vit B12 in liquid form over the counter too if you need a wee boost. . . I feel like I’ve rambled there and not really helped at all. . . Sorry 😐

Rie, thank you! It’s very helpful. I do wonder if I’m not absorbing it too as I eat brocolli regular, spinach is my crave food weirdly ha ha I eat healthy but actually eat very little meat these days or fortified cereal never so hopefully a boost and diet change will sort that out. I was told you get a High then low again so I’ll stock up on supplements I guess as long as body does absorb it). All the best!

You feel great a couple of days after the injection but towards the end of the 12 weeks you feel really crappy and flat again with zero energy levels. Some people get pins and needles in their hands and feet and start to feel dizzy when they’re due a top up but I don’t leave mine long enough to experience any of that. Hope you get sorted and start to feel better soon. 😘
