dang. I just calculated 1000 mg of salt in that small cup of chili plus the salad dressing packet yesterday :( I skipped the croutons so I won't even count the salad. My blood pressure has always been fine, however I just read that women of a certain age and over should limit sodium to 1500 mg per day. Wow I had no idea!

Searching for alternatives I find a no-salt added brand that has only 10 mg vs. 130 mg/per serving in the one I've been using. Thankfully I won't have to make all my legumes from scratch.
Nutrition can be complicated.😳

Does anyone here on FS have any tips on reducing sodium?

One tip that I learned many years ago...use the juice of fresh lemons or limes to cook with instead of salt. Hope this helps. I don't really add salt while I'm cooking other than adding it to boiled eggs.
