Right around hour 90 of the 5 day New Moon fast. Feeling a little spacey and unfocused. A little shaky and jittery, too. I'm taking some salt, and will be getting in a tub of Epsom salts water soon. I will stick it out until around noon, but may have to break the fast before the day ends. I'm off work today, so I can ride it out, but I don't think I can work tomorrow if I feel like I do now.
We'll see how it goes.

I hope this passes and that you feel better.

I had done a 5-day fast and used some of the techniques from the "Bulletproof Rapid Fat Loss" protocol and found that the glutamine helped a lot. Good luck!

Thanks, Sue. Me too! @Mcarthey, I looked it up, and it looks interesting. I am taking a supplement with 40 g of glutamine in it as well as D3. Thanks for the tip.

personally, it sounds dangerous and my advise would be to try another path.

A good loss, but sounds a little extreme for me. Two days on 600 calories a day, for me, is as much as I can manage.

Thanks for the input, Robert and Jocko. I'm monitoring things closely and will break the fast if I start feeling really bad.

Sometimes the body fights back and you have no choice but to end things early, but certainly no small feat so far, great job, Msk! I had a naughty day yesterday, (and the day before, honestly, probably today, too), but I intend to fast from Tuesday until at least Thursday, would like to make it to Friday fasted, we'll see.

Thanks for the support, Phil. I decided to go ahead and break the fast . I started feeling nauseated and my heart rate went up. I want this to be a healing for my body, not a harming! I'm starting with half an avocado, because I don't want my stomach to rebel. LOL

Well you did better than most would! If the goal is detox, would you consider lemon juice and a little honey, or would that add "sugar" which you don't do? I'm just thinking how you could give your brain a boost while still detoxing. Mehh, you did great!

I know that feeling. When I made three days fasted recently I wasn't up-to-speed on Dr. Fung's fast-breaking suggestions and I ended up with a rebelling digestive system, the details of which shouldn't be shared in polite company! This is a constant learning process, so it seems. No shame in breaking a five day fast a little early, I doubt if many people can claim they've made it that far!

You did great, far better than I could have done. You listened to your body and that's important.

I like that you are so very self aware and watch for the signs of what needs to change. Stay well.

I've bee there too. Everything is a learning experience. It's also a huge confidence builder to push into and/or through these things. You'll figure out what's right for you.

@Lizzy, that actually sounds like a good idea. Honey is one sugar I will use sparingly. With the avocado and some mineral water in me, I'm already feeling more grounded and my heart rate has stabilized. I'll let that settle for about a half an hour, and then make myself a hearty breakfast.

MsKes... I'm so happy to hear that you broke your fast b/c "spacey and jittery are not favorable symptoms sister ;-) You are wise!!

LOL, Phil! I can just imagine! I figure since my stomach has been pretty empty for 3+ days, it would object to having a big meal thrown at it right off the bat. Especially since I was already queasy. :P

Thanks, Sue, HCB, Bruce and Synda! I'm amazed at how GOOD I feel with just that little bit to eat...and by contrast, how really BAD I was feeling. Whew!

Applause, applause. You did it; now it will be interesting to see what happens over the next week. :)

Dr. Fung said we are NOT supposed to feel nauseated. That is a definite sign we need to break our fast. You fasted over three days. It's no failure.

Thanks, Erika. I *almost* made 4 days. The Bulletproof plan recommends carbing up slightly on the re-feed day, so I'm indulging a little. Not gonna go crazy-nuts, but having a glass of milk with breakfast feels like a major indulgence! It will be interesting to see what happens over the next week.
