Princess Mola's Journal, 11 Aug 14

I'm doing everything fine and can't believe the increase in weight. Though my clothes feel very loose now. I probably should start measuring my food intake to know where the problem is. I have been able to stick to 1250 cals and struggle at times to hit this target. I'm still on low carbs and find it easier to record my food diary on my phone using 'myfitnesspal' apps.
137 kg Lost so far: 23 kg.    Still to go: 52 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.
Gaining 0.9 kg a Week

Measuring your food would be good since people often underestimate their portions. It's not the same if it's 100 gr or 150 gr of chocolate or nuts for an example. Maybe this weight gain is just water weight. If you stick to your RDI and exercise you will achieve your goal. If you don't exercise it will only take you a lot longer but you will still get there.

Princess, you really do need to measure. On 1250 Cals, you should be dropping 2-3 lbs a week right now. That will slow down as you lose. Also, consider whether you might have food allergies. That can shut weight loss right down. You'll figure it out. It just takes time to get into the rhythm of eating right. Hugs!

I visited a dietician last week (as part of my Diabetes Clinic) I agreed with her I'd keep a food diary - despite beins sure I was ok about portion sizes etc. I've been shocked at how little 100g of anything looks!! When did it get to be that little? OR when did my portions 'slip' ? Keep it up. Loose clothes are great :-D

Thanks all for your support and comments. I have been doing great until the weighing and now, I am struggling mentally to stay focused. It can be depressing. But it could be water weight, too. Waiting to see!! Meanwhile, increase my exercise regime and weigh my food. 100g... is indeed small but I guess for salads, that's huge!!:-D Hugs back.

I have the same problem and decided not to care so much about the scale as my clothes are more and more loose. Stay positive and be strong don't let this discourage you; make it a challenge instead :)

Don't get disheartened.... its important to keep some measurement of things. Imagine driving without a speedometer. I have found that working on too severe a calorie deficit caused me to gain weight and retain water and when I went back to fatsecrets rdi which was much higher than what I was working to i started losing weight. Cut just enough calories and do a bit of exercise Im sure you will do great. Do lots of reading up and comparing approaches so you have some logic to lead you away from the fear of it not working. The most helpful thing Ive read that helped me resolve to the long game was that every pound of fat is (roughly) worth 3500 calories but can only release 34 in a day so your deficit hinges on your body fat percentage. I read about the Minnesota experiment and how when the subjects were given a treat larger meal they all lost weight the next day as the body had been tripped out of starving mode and dispelled retained water. All the best, keep going!

Also don't forget as you are exercising more and more you are growing muscles, which are heavier than the fat you burn! Therefore it is more important to pay attention to the size of your clothes, not only the scales. Try to keep a record of the measurements of your thighs, hips and waist and I bet you will soon start noticing them change. Good luck!
