Steven Lloyd's Journal, 23 Dec 19

Wow how time flies, 50 days since last weight update. Still within my weight window by a couple of pounds so no change in set weight.

However, a recent (Dec 3) MCL sprain-tear has derailed my planned awesome ski season a bit. Currently on the mend with rehab-physio going ok....biking and walking good for rehab but no skiing or other sports until later January at the earliest. Thankfully no surgury planned or required!!

Recent picture taken in the Monashee Mountains, about 70 kms (45 miles) NW of Revelstoke, BC Canada a few days before the knee injury.

Thanks DP and Melissa for the kind words. The first two weeks were spooky, a new injury that seemed to be only getting worse. However the last week has been very encouraging with physio and rehab (biking on a trainer mainly) going well with the knee less painful and much more stable. You both have done (and continue to do) awesome with great attitudes and serious commitments helping to fuel your successes. Merry Christmas to the both of you, hope your Christmas, Holiday season and the year ahead go very well.

How is the knee doing? BTW, my husband grew up in Revelstoke. He tells stories about moving into a new house and not realizing until late spring that there was a big swingset in the yard! 😁 His folks just had 3 ft of snow in two days! Are you going to be able to get back to the slopes soon?

The knee is coming along slowly Melissa. It's not bad walking or biking but it is still very weak rotationally or in tension. I had to bow out of my early Feb, four day back country ski trip earlier today...:( Hoping I'll be ready for the next booked big trip early March...fingers crossed 👍😉

Sorry to hear about your knee injury. I'm praying that it heals quickly...

Thank you John!! I'm very thankful that it didn't require surgury. I had a catastrophic failure (playing squash) with the same knee 22 years ago, massive surgery, two hip to toe casts (one after the other) to immobilize the knee, then 6 months of rehab to get it hinging again...and several years before it was back to 90%...this one is pretty minor in comparison.

I am so sorry, Steven. How disappointing to have to cancel your ski trip. I am glad you can look at it as positively as you do, as in being thankful it isn't as bad as it could be. You have sure recovered from so much... Goodness! I nearly broke my neck in a riding accident when I was 20 and couldn't go to college that year, so I do understand a little. The injury has caused issues for me my whole life, but the more I keep fit the better! Hang in there! You are one fit lad, so I am sure your recovery is going so much faster than for an average human!
