I've not really introduced myself yet...so here goes...I'm a 52 year old carer, living in London. I'm profoundly deaf...born that way so al this technology with texts n messaging has brought us deaf people out of the shadows of isolation and now we can parcipitate in discussions...and make friends! Here I am...after trying every diet there is...the best way of losing weight has got to be calorie counting and recording...works every time...oh..and fasting helps!! I should correct my recorded weight...gained a couple of pounds ..but I'm hoping its water retention....how often should we weigh ourselves?

Welcome😊 I usually only do it on weigh in day... in case I get disheartened. I’m on the 5.2 diet and restarted last week after a rather long break😊. Good luck👍

Great to meet you! I'd say weighing is very personal. Some get obsessed if they do it every day, some prefer a weekly Friday (before their weekend blow-out, I suspect 😉), others weigh every day but only record their losses, not their upwards fluctuations. There are so many different ways. Naked, first thing in the morning after ... erm ... ablutions. Same clothes, same time at the Shopping Centre - it's important not to mix those two up 😂 My personal method is to weigh every day, first thing and just once. Record it, accept the fluctuations and note the trend. I'm easing myself into a low/keto carb regime along with 16:8 fasting (first food after noon and don't eat after 8pm). Except for a large mug of coffee with cream before work. All the best with your goals 👍🏻

Hi, I also use the calorie counting and recording EVERYTHING that passes my lips 👄, as this is the best way I know to help me lose weight. I myself am disabled and so I can't use normal' scales ⚖️ so I used to measure the Big bits like my Upper Arms 💪 Tummy and Upper Thighs. this was something that motivated me, as being in the wheelchair it wasn't easy to notice any weight loss, especially when I had so much weight to lose. Unfortunately I became very ill and was in hospital 🏥 for 3 months, and then I also had to have the district nurses visiting for over 19 months. and would you believe it, they told me for the first time in my life that I needed to put weight on! 😱😵. It had taken me over 40 years to finally bloody lose weight !😅. However like most people after Christmas 🎄 I have been a bit naughty and I know I have to rein it back in, and the best way I know how, is to record what I'm eating. 😁 Just remember that it might take time, but YOU will get there, and don't beat yourself up if you have a treat 🍔🍫🍰, you are allowed, you just carry on the next day. Welcome to the group, and I wish you well with reaching your goal, cheers 🍻 Lesley
