mskestrela's Journal, 15 Nov 16

Well...
Between the boss' "healthy bean" soup (with whole grains and mystery sauce) and Friday's adventure with Gullah cooking (flour and fruit), my weight has jumped back up into the 170's. Well into the 170's. Even though I had a massive calorie deficit all week, and even though I stayed under 50g carbs.
Yeah, tell me all calories are created equal. It has nothing to do with CICO, it has to do with INSULIN.
Not to mention the cravings. I want bread. I want rice, I want mac-n-cheese. Instead, I'm fasting at least 36 hours. The carb monster will NOT win.
Work this week is crazybusy. Thanksgiving is around the corner, and people have been saving their hair appointment for 'just before' so they'll look good in family photos. No surprise...I've been in the biz for too many years not to expect it. But, seriously...I have more appointments for this Friday than I had all last week, combined! And had 3 calls, and one text asking to get in on Friday. Really??? Is there no other day you can make it?
Yeah, the carb monster is making me tired and grumpy. Bleh.
I hope my buddies are doing better tonight.

Thank you April. ♥ I don't 'need' carbs. And yes, being busy will help with the cravings. If only the boss would refrain from bringing pasta for us. AGHHHH! She brought penne with meat sauce today, and I had to slap my hand to not take any.

You'll do this, I've never seen anyone with more determination. The fast will help you get back on track for sure.

You make me feel bad. I called my hairdresser (she has been doing my hair for 30 years!) last week to ask if she could get me in before 11-17, knowing full well I was asking the impossible. I ended up taking an appointment for 11-30, after the holiday, and then lo and behold, she called me this afternoon offering me 7:15 pm tonight because several of her customers who had insisted on pre-holiday appointments had cancelled. So I'm thrilled -- got a haircut, bought product, and will leave for the holiday feeling much better. Kes -- I think you are suffering from NOT having IBS. If I'd eaten that bean soup or anything thickened with flour, I wouldn't have been able to leave the bathroom long enough to go to Florida this week, so I wouldn't have been tempted.I already rolled the dice and ate some dessert at brunch on Sunday, on I've been suffering ever since, so I am now back on the straight and narrow. Seriously though, don't despair. Get back on your plan and weigh yourself again in a week. I bet the outcome will be encouraging. Hope all your clients are at least in a good mood and that you make it to the holiday weekend feeling like you helped many people look and feel good about themselves!

You're so right about the carbs, the CICO and insulin. How awful that you are tempted at work. Good luck avoiding the temptations.
