I really went over the top today on my diet. I went out shopping with Lulu Lowcarb. I was on trolley duty, meaning I got to tow her wheeled shopping basket around behind me. I get all the best jobs. Not that I’m complaining, the walking is good exercise. I just wish her shopping trolley wasn’t vibrant pink.! Not much street cred for a guy towing a pink trolley. Ah well the experience eventually came to an end.

We dived into a gastro pub eying up the menu I thought, Hmmmm how can I keep it low carbs? I decided the best option was a lamb shank with a pint of beer. I asked for it to be served with no potatoes, just extra veg. It went down a treat, but about 725 calories plus the pint at 260 calories.

I thought I was doing well until I noticed on the menu was a Knickerbocker glory. Now that not only stirred some memories. I could still remember the sheer enjoyment and flavours in slowly devouring one. It must have been forty years since I last had one. I sat there for about 10 minutes arguing with myself and Lulu. I was still under my calorie count for the day, but my carb intake had been severely lashed. Eventually I caved in and ordered one and another beer to wash it down.

For the day my carb and calorie count had been mortally wounded, but I had a smile from ear to ear. Once in a while doesn’t hurt.

I really went over the top too! I ended up having two desserts yesterday - one at a restaurant and one when I got back home. I don't usually eat them! Went way over my calories and wasn't even celebrating anything!

Mmmmmm, but I bet they both tasted amazing. :) I find ice cream is my weakness. I must try a LCHF version.

Well, Waitrose comes to your rescue again - Oppo ice cream Madagascan vanilla with baobab. Not exactly LCHF, but carbs in two scoops is 7.1 as it only has natural sweeteners in it. And, yes, my desserts did taste amazing - a delicious chocolate pot with a creme fraiche topping at the restaurant, followed by Tesco Finest chocolate truffle Champagne profiteroles! Won't ever buy them again - far too nice! Well, maybe, when I get down to my target weight :)

Thanks again Doobs. I am already clearing room in my freezer for Oppo icecream. I may have to make a trip there this afternoon. I can't get the visual image of "Chocolate truffle Champagne profiteroles" swimming in cream out of my mind. Num num num num num. Lol :)

They were one of the best desserts I've had. Better than a restaurant one!
