Another nice morning, but in my locale thunder storms predicted for this afternoon. So I thought it would be a good idea to cut the lawn, that’s a good hour’s exercise in itself. Job done I got changed and was off to my weekly date with the gym. The instructor led a one hour cardio workout. He had the whole class leaping about like loons on a full moon. Everyone was moaning we all knew we had just been worked like rented mules. Gosh I was so pleased when the session came to an end, but I still managed to get some walking in.

I am very pleased with my Wednesday visit to my doctors. The results of the recent cholesterol blood test show my HDL is higher than it needs to be, Dr reckons that’s great. My LDL is borderline, both are a good improvement from six months ago. Doc has given me a request for another cholesterol test in three months’ time. If it’s normal I can come off the statins. I really hope so, because there is a lot of bad press surrounding the use of statins.

During the last three months of exercise and diet change I have been recording daily readings of my blood pressure and watching the diastolic and systolic progressively drop to what is now a stable level, but much lower than they need to be. I’ve been taking blood pressure lowering pills for the last six years. I showed the readings to the doc and he has taken me off the BP pills, so I am double chuffed with the visit.

That's absolutely wonderful, Windle! How fantastic to be able to come off your BP tablets! My husband refused to take statins after about a month on them as they gave him joint pain and memory problems. He has been mainly doing a low carb diet, not exactly high fat but higher than he used to, and the doc was happy with his last cholesterol results :)

It was probably a wise decision. Some claim that taking Statins is one of the main causes of Diabetes. :op
