FloridaAngel's Journal, 20 Jan 16

Our bodies are weird things. I WAS down to 184 over a week ago, didn't cheat and since then the scale has been doing the 2-3 pound bipolar dance so I drank a lot of water yesterday (which I should have been doing anyway) and than starved myself last night, now the scale is at 184.6 so I am good (back to 184 would have been better, but I'm happy with losing more than 16 lbs in less than 2 months!). Now I am daring myself to hide the scale for a week (why is that so hard?!) : )

Keep it up. I hide the scale and take it out once a week now. The funny thing is, I used to weigh myself every day and actually did better at losing weight. But I think I will continue this way since honestly, in real life I don't think most people weigh in daily.

I weigh myself all the time. I find it helpful to replace food obsession with scale obsession. I made my weigh-ins private because no one wants to see me updating it so frequently. I go by the lowest weight of the day. That often doesn't occur until later in the day, after caffeine has had a diuretic effect. It makes me happy to update with a lower number to compare with the other days' lowest numbers. Wanting to get and keep the number down helps motivate me to keep the day's calories down too. Frequent weighing also helps me to see how much my weight can fluctuate throughout the day and from day to day, which keeps me focused on the trend, rather than on any one number on any one day. When I screw up by overeating, I see it quickly on the scale, which forces me to be more consciously aware of what I'm doing to myself and can help me to right the ship sooner.

You are stronger than I am! I weigh every morning, but don't let the daily fluctuations bother me. Don't think I could hide the scales well enough to keep from dragging them back out again!

LOL Rhontique! Then you can add "moved scale" to your daily exercise log : )

I had a dr tell me to weigh every day and then divide by 7 to get the true weight for that week. But it drives me crazy to weigh every day.

GOOGLE an article titled, "Why the Scale Lies" to learn how fluctuations a normal based on water, sodium, etc. Just keep doing what you are doing and look for a downward trend.

You have to have someone ELSE hide it, lol. I got rid of mine at home...

I moved my scale into another room, and my weight increased by 2 pounds!!! I moved it back to the bathroom and it wouldn't return to the original weight. I blame it on the elf! I think the elf on the shelf is making mischief inside the scales, because I have been so careful with my diet too. The elf often messes with my text messages too.

I'm probably going to switch to Wednesday Weigh-ins now that my loss is starting to slow. It'll be hard not to cheat on weighing.

Yeah it's a thing we all hit - the barrier. I've been on a change of life style (now eating well/making my own food) and exercising. The weight starts to drop and then you hit a plateau that you seem not to be able to break - I'm there now myself. Will now incorporate sprints (well a 47 year old's sprint) at least twice a week. 6 x 10 to 30 second sprints to start. This is to blast through this plateau (hopefully)....

Someone would have to take the scale out of our house. I can't stay away from it every morning. If I don't weigh I get the shakes ....its soooo stupid!
