I'm on my 13th day of 14 days ‘Natural syrup and Lemon’ detox. It has been an intensive journey and if you have been on one, you know what I am talking about. And if you haven’t, well...you should have a go (with medical advise, though, as I don’t want to be sued). I will follow up with a 4-day rehabilitation process to help get my system going again. This is an important step and I need to plan it well.

For now, I feel great because the detox period has helped me to confront my eating habits and emotional reasons why I tend to overeat and not control my portion size. It has helped me to consider other options to rich and healthy eating I wouldn't otherwise have looked at or tried. Researches I wouldn’t have given a second hoot about. I have spent this period reflecting on many reasons why I consume certain foods – influences from my background, culture, peers, government policies, parents/relatives, greed etc.

So, at day 10, I was determined to go all raw when I complete the detox and rehabilitation stages and as the inevitable chewing days draw nearer, I feel realistically, I should start slowly with 20% cooked and 80% raw food. I will try this for 30 days and document my progress.

As my main goal for the detox programme was not to lose the extra weight but have a blank sheet of paper of optimal health to start off with, being 10kg lighter cannot be ignored. I have started to fundamentally change my mindset to certain types of food and eating habit to a healthier and rewarding one. There are so many types of food - raw or otherwise, that I will loooove to try as nature has been so generous to us. Away with package meal, in fresh and living food!

I am cautious of how my body is waiting patiently now to load up on all the fats that will go through my mouth once I begin to eat normally and I am ready for the battle – bring it on flesh! I am determined that my body and I shall become friends or at least, yield to my biddings.

So friends, that’s it for now!
K’araole o (be in good health)!!

Please read up all you can about dairy milk, fructose and corn starch. Don’t make the same mistakes that I have made for so many years. It led to my obesity!! More people are now being diagnosed with metabolic syndrome of which obesity is just one of them. You may not be fat but may have some of the symptoms of this syndrome without you knowing it due to wrong lifestyle choices you may have made or still making.... (e.g. pot belly, high LDL cholesterol, heart conditions, liver dysfunction, bone diseases, fibroid, pancreas failure etc).

I also want to encourage you all to choose nut milk over dairy milk!!! Don’t be lazy, just carry out a 5-minute research and you will be shocked!! Apparently, only less that 7% of the population consume seeds and nuts in their raw form.

I now make my own nut milk from the following
o Hemp seed  , yes hemp
o Almond nuts
o Walnuts
o Sunflower
o Flax seed

It takes less than 12 minutes to make 1 litre of milk and cheaper too! Put a handful of each seeds/nuts in a glass bowl and soak overnight. Rinse out and blend with 500mls (or 1ltr) of spring water in a blender and squeeze out the juice using strainer or cheese cloth and you have your milk. You can sweeten with honey if you want – I don’t bother. PS. Keep the pulp and use in oats or cereal.

Don’t go for store nut milk, they contain preservatives and have been pasteurised. You need to consume the milk from the nut’s raw and natural state to gain the benefits. They are rich in protein, good fats, omega 3, 6 and 9 vitamins B, C, E and many more nutrients. Perfect for correcting diabetes, blood pressure, sinusitis, weight loss etc. Cow milk is actually meant for cow babies :)

It will may even reverse old age (laugh). Please, incorporate this into your children’s lives, too. They rely on YOU to train and teach them stuff!! As long as they are not allergic to nut. If they are not, then give them a glass of this milk instead of sugary juice (read about the dangers of sucrose and fructose – they are actually not well digested by the liver and makes the pancreas to over-work – reasons for Type 2 diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure.
If only I had known all these.... Don’t make the same mistakes that I have made for so many years. It led to my obesity!! You have been warned.
