Please read up all you can about dairy milk, fructose and corn starch. Don’t make the same mistakes that I have made for so many years. It led to my obesity!! More people are now being diagnosed with metabolic syndrome of which obesity is just one of them. You may not be fat but may have some of the symptoms of this syndrome without you knowing it due to wrong lifestyle choices you may have made or still making.... (e.g. pot belly, high LDL cholesterol, heart conditions, liver dysfunction, bone diseases, fibroid, pancreas failure etc).

I also want to encourage you all to choose nut milk over dairy milk!!! Don’t be lazy, just carry out a 5-minute research and you will be shocked!! Apparently, only less that 7% of the population consume seeds and nuts in their raw form.

I now make my own nut milk from the following
o Hemp seed  , yes hemp
o Almond nuts
o Walnuts
o Sunflower
o Flax seed

It takes less than 12 minutes to make 1 litre of milk and cheaper too! Put a handful of each seeds/nuts in a glass bowl and soak overnight. Rinse out and blend with 500mls (or 1ltr) of spring water in a blender and squeeze out the juice using strainer or cheese cloth and you have your milk. You can sweeten with honey if you want – I don’t bother. PS. Keep the pulp and use in oats or cereal.

Don’t go for store nut milk, they contain preservatives and have been pasteurised. You need to consume the milk from the nut’s raw and natural state to gain the benefits. They are rich in protein, good fats, omega 3, 6 and 9 vitamins B, C, E and many more nutrients. Perfect for correcting diabetes, blood pressure, sinusitis, weight loss etc. Cow milk is actually meant for cow babies :)

It will may even reverse old age (laugh). Please, incorporate this into your children’s lives, too. They rely on YOU to train and teach them stuff!! As long as they are not allergic to nut. If they are not, then give them a glass of this milk instead of sugary juice (read about the dangers of sucrose and fructose – they are actually not well digested by the liver and makes the pancreas to over-work – reasons for Type 2 diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure.
If only I had known all these.... Don’t make the same mistakes that I have made for so many years. It led to my obesity!! You have been warned.

Hi, I also swapped dairy for almond milk, all I miss is the cheese, but you get by. I wish you every success, and pray the 5:2 diet works for you.

Very interesting if you read the effects on the body from fructose (burden on the liver, propensity for liver to store fat, propensity for liver to not be able to process the fructose so it gets stored as fat, increased cholesterol, aside from the fact that sugars offer absolutely no nutrition at all either! If you're into raw or want to get more into it - there's a GREAT book called The Uncook Cookbook - has some great stuff in it. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Raw-Uncook-Book-Juliano/dp/0060392622/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1390933781&sr=1-1-fkmr1&keywords=the+uncook+cookbook

Does nut milk still provide you with calcium?

Hi Ashdene and thanks for the encouragement. I believe you can make cheese like meal from almond milk. Hi Halesowenmum and thanks so much for the information on the raw diet cookery book. I am currently on 5th day of lemon detox and I am doing very well. I planned to go into raw diet afterwards. I tried cashew sauce for salad dressing for my husband and he liked it. So, I can't wait to try it to once my detox period is over. Hi Laura010391. Seed and nuts are loaded with digestible calcium unlike dairy milk.
