Oy, such excitement! A few things on the inner side, and a few on the outer. I went to sleep very early last night, so of course, I was awake at 1 AM. I know better than to lie there and toss and turn, so I got up and played mindless games for a couple of hours. Went back to bed at 3, and managed a few more hours until 7. That kind of split sleep is never as good as a solid sleep, but I was at least alert for working and the Walmart run. Now my eyes are tired and irritated, and I'm very sleepy. I'm going to try to stay awake until at least 9 PM, to try to re-establish my sleep pattern.
I'm getting very excited about a weekend away for the eclipse. I have a few activities planned for the weekend, including a first-time visit to Trader Joe's, swimming in the hotel pool (in my new size SMALL swimsuit!) and watching some cable TV. I may have mentioned before that I have only basic (13 channel) cable at home, and easily go months without even turning it on.
However, one of my favorite vloggers from YouTube was asked earlier this year to participate on a special edition of the Discovery Channel's show, "Naked and Afraid". It turns out that his episode will air the night of the eclipse, when I will have full cable access in the hotel! I'm really looking forward to it, since I was following live updates from him during the filming. He, and another vlogger, were allowed to do daily vlogs from the site. It looked pretty horrendous. So it will be interesting to see the network's take on their situation.
So, yeah. The new computer arrived today after spending 24 hours languishing at the local FedEx location. It took me a couple of hours to get it set up, programs and extensions installed, and back online. Interestingly, the speaker jack on the box still has the pin-dot connections for speakers and mic in the back, instead of the single jack. But it does have them on the front. I think I still have the converters somewhere. It's just a matter of digging through the 'old computer parts' box to find them.
And yeah, after a week on the old, pokey NetBook, this is SCREAMING fast! But the biggest change is the screen size. LOL! My desktop monitor is only 26 inches, but after a week squinting at a 10" screen, I feel like the world has opened to me again!
So, I'm back. Starting tomorrow, everything is logged, at least until the weekend away. All rules will be suspended, and cravings indulged while I'm having fun in the Capitol City. Consciously. When I get back, it's back on the program full force.
I wish you all a happy and successful rest of the week.
Love and Light,
~Kes

I just bought a new desktop computer at the same place I got the last one. I got a great deal on an HP Pro 6305 with a 3.4 Ghz processor, 4 Gigs of memory, 250 gigs of storage. It's refurbished, and the reviews for it are awesome. AND it was $99.99, plus they threw in a VR headset for free. Whee! It should be here by Monday or Tuesday next week. It's going to feel screaming fast because this Netbook is SO slow and laggy. I can play a whole game of solitaire in the time it takes for a page to load. LOL
Yesterday I had an allergy headache all day, so after work, I fell off the wagon HARD. Yep, stopped at MickeyD's and got a Big Mac Meal. Here's the surprise: not only did the bread not make my heart go crazy, but I'm down half a pound from yesterday. Go figure.
Back on it today with a 26 hour fast, and I'm making a very low-carb conch chowder. I was thinking about doing conch fritters with CarbQuick (like BisQuick, but way lower in carbs) but most fritter recipes have peppers, and I don't care for them. And after my foray yesterday, the lower the carbs I have today, the better.
Oh, and my new debit card came yesterday, in record time. Turns out I really didn't need to wait until it came, because my checking account is linked to PayPal, and NewEgg accepts PayPal. Yay!
Anyway, I'll get back to logging when I get the new machine.
Have a great end of the week, my buddies and followers!

Well, my desktop computer is a goner. I just got word from the tech that he's pretty sure the motherboard is dead. I sent him a text asking if he might be able to build me a new one using the hard drive from the dead one, but haven't heard back from him yet. *sigh*
I've been mostly sticking with the OMAD plan, and staying stable +/- a 2 lb range, while enjoying some long-forbidden foods. I just found out that Club crackers are insanely high in carbs! I didn't check before having them, but found out when I recorded this morning. YIKES!
It's been hot, muggy and rainy for the last week here on the Carolina coast. Yesterday was a weird one...hard rain for 10 minutes, then an hour of clear, sunny skies, then another 10 minute thunderstorm... all day!
I keep the cats' litter box in the tub of the spare bathroom, trying to minimize the scatter some. While I clean the box every day, it's been a while since I cleaned the bathroom. The dust from the litter was horrendous! It's a small bathroom, but it still took me almost an hour just to shop vac the worst of the litter and dust from everything. I'm off work today, so I'm going to vacuum up all the cat hair tumbleweeds from the rest of the house. LOL...the joys of being a crazy cat lady.
Wishing you all a wonderfully successful Tuesday,
~Kes
