mskestrela's Journal, 02 Jun 16

Part one of the carb spike experiment accomplished. I treated myself to a birthday dinner of all my favorite Japanese foods: Gyoza, sushi, sashimi, sake. I ate until I was stuffed! First time in weeks that's happened. Lawdy, lawdy, was it good!!! I am a happy, happy girl tonight! (And I highly recommend a trip to Walmart on a sake buzz. Very entertaining! LOL)
I was happy that my new taste sensitivities didn't interfere, although the vinegar in the rice seemed a little stronger than usual. And because of them, I was halfway done with the meal before I realized I had mixed my wasabi with Ponzu instead of soy sauce.
Interestingly, in spite of having a whopping 115g of carbs for the day, I'm still only at 70% of my RDI on calories.
Yeah, I know 115g of carbs isn't even up to half the SAD, but for someone who's been keeping to between 10-15g a day, it's HUGE! And, except for the sugar in the unagi (eel) sauce, it was a very healthy lunch! And, since I was alone, I was able to eat it *mindfully*.
We'll see what the Ketostix and scale have to say about it tomorrow.
