I don't how people do it. I seem to be permanently on a diet and I never seem to get a thinner. I start off so well and then after a couple of weeks I lose momentum. How do people keep it up and hit their goal weight?

I am stumped. Your diet looks healthy and balanced. You seem to have a sensible calorie deficit, and yet your weight goes steadily down, and then steadily back up again. are, you doing exercise or relying on your fitbit tracker, and are you using that to estimate your daily calorie requirement?

I just don't rely on my fitbit for exercise. I have quite cross trainer and a treadmill that I use and also weights for strength training. I don't use the fitbit for th calorie intake it's rubbish. But I Google and found out to lose weight I need to. Consume 1200 Calories. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Calories sounds about right. How tall are you and what year were you born (Sorry I hope you don't mind me asking its for calories calculator). I could suggest a diet plan that you could follow to the letter for a week if you want, but I don't like telling people what to eat, and I am just some random internet bloke ;)

You are spot on with calories then 2000 is your rdi, and 1500 is a 25% deficit. So as an example plan Breakfast: 78g oats, 5g ground almonds, 14g Whey protein powder. Snack: 162g 0%fat greek yoghurt, 36g chia seeds, 306g diced apple. Lunch: 507g Frozen mixed vegetables, 7g Flax seeds, 29g skinless chicken breast. Dinner: 464g Frozen mixed vegetables, 77g Egg white, 13g chia seeds. I realise that this would be very staid and boring, but perhaps you could come up with some improvements and get back to me because that's the sort of things I eat and I want to spice it up a bit ;)

Are you drinking plenty of fluids? I find that helps.

I tried something once which helped me lose 4lbs in one week. And that was the principal that you only ate veg or food that grew out if the ground plus meat. So breakfast I would have a protein shake. Lunch was veg and rice, egg salad, Dinner was lean meat with veg and only a small amount of potatoes. I Would imaging my plate and cut in half..knew half would be the veg. .The other half of the plate would be half again. One section for the meat the other for the potatoes O rice I would avoid bread pasta and cereal

Yes good point @eclipsesolaire, 1ml per calorie is a good measure, so 2000 kcal = 2 liters of water a day.

By the way have you ever had your thyroid checked out?

Are you eating enough? If you are recording everything, it seems you are running on too low calories and your body might be dealing with this by going into "survival" mode where it will store everything you give it as it thinks it is starving. I am the same height as you and was quite a bit heavier when I first started and I found my magic number was around 1400-1500 at your weight - try upping your intake, don't panic at first as your weight might go up....but it will start to go down again.

Thank you for all your comments and support. I did a Google search for my ideal calorie consumption this morning and found out I should be eating 1500 calories and burning 2500 calories and day for a healthy weight loss of 2lbs a week. I thought that eating 1200 calories a day was healthy but I've found out that my body is going into survival mode and is keeping hold of my fat. So no wonder my Dunlop tyre is not going down. So starting today I'm now on 1400-1500 calories and day but I'm going ro limit my bread pasta and potatoes

Sounds like a good plan Joanne and you will probably feel better for it - the same thing happened to a friend of mine and now she is steadily losing weight - remember to be kind to yourself and keep going you are on the right track!

I used Fat secret to set my calories based on my current weight, goal weight and lifestyle, along with the speed I wanted to lose. I'm on 1600 calories a day and its working.

I agree you can use the FS calculator, but I found with me it was a little too high, so it might take a bit of tweaking - but if you choose 1500, stick to it for at least 6-8 weeks to see if it will work for you - anything short term doesn't really tell you anything.
