poppycom's Journal, 14 Jul 17

Omg.. the wedding is 5 weeks today 😱😱
Down 1.2 lbs
Carbs approx 18g
35 days to go
14.7 lbs to go
Down 1.2 lbs

Thanks fir the advice yesterday guys.. dunno if the 2lb weight gain was due to eating different foods or just one of those things!!

The old me would have given up and attacked the fridge at work with all the leftovers from the bringadish summer lunch
Cheese & onion or quiche Lorraine
Sausage rolls
Rice from various nationalities
Pasta salads
Fruit dipped in white and milk chocolate
Homemade scones
Dips
Crackers and tortilla chips
Cherry pie, apple pie, carrot cake and cupcakes
Oh, and a variety of juices and fuzzy drinks

But I managed to fast until 530pm, so 21 hours

Mad house last nite.. it was 6th form prom, so we had a variety of teenagers coming, getting ready and took a car full to a lovely stately home and back

Broke my fast with nuts and cheese whilst buzzing around ( well, as much my hip will allow as it's really hard to weightbear now)

So I got fish and chips for everyone as I couldn't stand up to cook

I had a small cod with 2 tbsp batter, threw the rest in the recycling straight away. I didn't eat one chip.. estimated from fs for the Cals/ carbs.. probably overestimated the carbs and underestimated the Cals???

Off to see physio at 930.. going to go to urgent care to see a dr about my hip first.. I'm used to low level pain in my hips, but not like this and physio can't help me if I dunno what it is!!

Plan:
Take it easy physically on my day off
See dr and physio
Fast until this evening if I can ( may be limited by meds after dr appt)
Eating crap/carbs WILL NOT make me feel better, so avoid
Stew fior dinner tonight, so after prep I can leave it to cook itself and not stand up, but avoid takeaway 😁

Have a happy Friday fs friends 😎😎

I hope they get to the bottom of what's wrong. I know you have some mobility problems anyway but this seems to be something you've recognised as different. Take care!

Good luck with the doctor and physio. Well done on the weight loss and avoiding all the carby things yesterday. You're doing great on your diet 🙂

Most meds seem to work well with fat. I take mine with coffee with lots of cream in sometimes. Avocado is good too. There is a fat fast where you eat bacon - as much as you like, up to 2 avocados and buttery coffee. I've not tried it, but it might work for a heavy meds time. I've taken that much codeine and tramadol that they don't make me ill anymore - morphine makes me very, very itchy though.

Thanks all Had hip X-rays and they're all clear.. the dr thought I probably partially dislocated my hip last week and the deep hip muscles are bruised, would normally be better in a week or so ( for patients with normal joints)😂 So I have to rest it (snore) My physio has given me sitting exercises with a theraband, working on my feet first, then we'll work our way up to knees, hips etc. I tried to stand to see if the other exercises had improved my strength and balance bit the hip pain made me cry.. Will be interesting to see in 3 weeks time when I go back if it's working.. we've booked a longer appt to come up with a plan 😎 I've managed an 18 hour fast, but hungry now so gonna take painkillers with nuts and cheese Happy Friday all

Good news about the x-ray - though it means that only rest will help it. I have bursitis which then press on the nerve and I get sciatica - ain't life grand!!

Enjoy the rest, Poppy. I know you don't like to rest but it'll be good for you. Take care.

Thanks Doobrie and April and minitata. Minitata.. yup, bursitis sucks! I have it in both hips. But this was a new, severe pain that made me cry on weight bearing.. so I'm just really relieved the X-ray was ok 🎉🙏🏻 Glad u are finding some relief with your tens.. a decrease in chronic pain makes the world a much brighter place and your goals seem much closer to reach 🤗

Poppy, you and minitata, egull1, and others here help me with your courage and enthusiasm. Thank you! 🙋🏻Some times it's so hard to remember to be upbeat and positive when pain is a constant companion and nothing seems to help. 😘
