I found some MCT oil at, of all places, WalMart. I had been thinking of ordering some, but remembered seeing bottles of clear coconut oil there, labeled as "Coconut Cooking Oil". I went back to check it, and sure enough, it's MCT, and at $7.99 for 16 oz, a steal! I added it to my bulletproof coffee yesterday morning, and it made a huge difference! I wasn't hungry all day. I finally got a little hungry around 4 PM, and had some Bahamian conch in the fridge I needed to use, so I adapted a Keto biscuit recipe and made conch fritters. Tasty!!
Hermine is hitting us this morning. Had a tornado warning early this morning, and we keep getting waves of really hard rain. So far, the winds haven't been too bad, although there have been some hard gusts that have the pine trees swaying pretty hard.
I cancelled all my appointments for the day, and will be hunkering down until the storm passes.
Happy Friday, FS buddies!

What is MCT oil?
02 Sep 16 by member: iulani
Iulani, it's a concentrated form of coconut oil. MCT stands for, "Medium Chain Triglycerides", and they have all kinds of healthy benefits.

It poured rain all night here! I can only imagine what your getting. It's windy here too. I'm on the outer spin. It's pretty big. Be safe.

I've never experienced a hurricane, but I've seen disaster movies! I'll expect you to be reading by candlelight in your bathtub!

Kes, I hope you're Ok. Where are you located on the storm track. I love Lady's visualization. We're supposed to get a lot of rain and wind on Sunday, but the Jersey shore is going to get hit with high tides, flooding and beach erosion. They'll have damage but nothing like Florida.

How do you make your bullet proof coffee?

Thank you. Thinking about you, wondering if you are ok in the storm?

Thank you, friends! It's all over but the shouting, here in my area. My yard was a lake for a while, but thankfully, it had been dry for a few weeks before this came, so it soaked in quickly. @Lady, LOL! That's not a bad idea..even though we never lost power. The lights flickered a couple of times during some gusts, but they stayed on. @Sue, I'm about 45 minutes north and slightly west of Savannah, GA. The 'eye' passed directly over me about 30 minutes ago, and it's stopped raining, and the wind is calm. We are still under a tornado watch until 8 PM, because the tail has convective properties. As for the coffee, in a 20 oz mug, I put 2 Tbs butter, 2 Tbs coconut oil, and for now, 1 tsp MCT oil. I fill the cup to within an inch of the top, use a little stick blender the froth it, then top it off with half&half. They say you should work up to 2 of the MCTs, because they can cause 'intestinal distress' at first.

Sounds like some exciting weather! We may get the end of it up here in New England over the weekend. It's been so dry here that we could use a good dowsing!

And that is a deal on MCT!
02 Sep 16 by member: erikahollister
@Erika, yeah, we were needing a good soaking too. The last time we had a tropical system move through, it had been raining hard every day for a few weeks. My yard was a lake for over a week, and even the interstate flooded. The detour route was the rural highway that goes right in front of my house. It was Memorial Day weekend, too, so the traffic was fierce. It was slow and go for almost 30 hours out front. I felt so bad for those folks! And, I thought so, too, on the MCT oil! Just because it's not labeled as MCT. Marketers catch on to trends and price accordingly.

@Kathleen, yeah, they're calling this a "backdoor system". It's still gusting here, and some deadfall just bounced off the roof.

Thanks, Lizzy and Rhontique! @Sue, if you add a little sugar-free Torani French Vanilla syrup to the BPC, it's pretty heavenly!
