no low carb induction is 10 max 20 carbs. 125 carbs is not low carb at all.

It's low carb for me! Was more like 185 per day! Seriously though, I'm not a protein sort of person, was vegetarian for years, ate a lot of grains and pulses. Now eating less of that and more fruit and veg, also high in carbs. But trying some meals with less carbs the last couple of days, and I don't think I can do even that every day. I think it will be an occasional thing which might help boost weight loss, maybe? We'll see. Thanks for your comments, anyway!

you have to get into ketosis to really see the benefit of low carb and that means 1-20 carbs for the first 2 weeks or so - some people hold to that the whole time but I have gone to 3o-40 and still losing about 2 lbs a week if i were to drop to 10-20 again then I would see more of a drop. Read more about the ketogenic diet or atkins, LCHF any of them will give you guidance to the parameters that a low carb WOE truly is.

I did some reading yesterday, mostly about the benefits rather than how to do it. I still don't think it's going to be for me though. It just doesn't suit my stomach, and I don't enjoy it either. You have to enjoy your food, even on a diet. And I can't eat fatty foods at all, as I get dreadful reflux, so I'd probably just end up feeling hungry all the time, also not much fun. I will lose weight slowly if I stay within calorie limits, and can eat more things that I like.

My carb usually is around 125-150. I'm more concerned with sugar, and I try to always keep that under 30 grams. Any change is going to take some getting used to, and for what it's worth 125 is low carb for me too :) and I've never had any issues losing, no peeing on a stick required. No individual is the same so you keep on tailoring your own plan to what works for you.

Heidi, if you go to my diet calendar and skim down the carbs you will see mine are high also. If you see a streak of slightly lower around 100 I've probably cooked some chicken or meat that I had for several meals. Today it was 140 gms carbs and I had some beef for dinner, if I would have eaten vegetarian it would have been higher. I cannot handle a steady diet of animal proteins. Neither my body nor my budget like it.

I strongly believe that you have to have a diet that works for you and your family. If a diet is too strict or hard work it is likely to fail. My family is definitely not low carb, the only thing I try to avoid is bread and that works for me. You are obviously doing something right as you are losing weight :)

My opinion also you need to find a plan for life, one that fits you and your family that you can live with. A "diet" with and end game doesn't work. Been there too many times. I now continue tracking so I do not escalate into the too big portions and start gaining again. I love food, love to cook, love to delve into various cuisines so I have few limits. I avoid processed meats (once in a while away from home) and most processed foods.

I wasn't pushing low carb just trying to educate a little. You do have to do what fits for you. You don't wear shoes that give you blisters why put yourself in a plan that rubs the wrong way.

Thanks again all. I do believe I have learned a few things here! And thanks for the compliment, Eclipse ☺
