Continuing with the experimentation, I decided to push boundaries last night. Yeah, I know I said wheat products were off the table, but the ex had brought some club crackers to have with the soup, and left them here. I checked the carbs, and decided that 8 crackers were within my boundaries. So that was dinner...with hard salami and cheese.
Result: What a full Mexican meal and 92 g of carbs couldn't do, 8 frikkin' club crackers DID. Out of ketosis within 3 hours of eating wheat, in spite of the total carb count for the DAY being just over 32g. Wow.
The KetoStix showed a trace amount this morning, so I'm getting back, but the scale was up 1.2 pounds. No carb hangover, but within an hour of eating the crackers, I had a pounding headache. That I'm wheat intolerant is no longer a theory, in my mind.
The rest of the crackers are going in the garbage!
I have a busy day at work, and will probably fast through it.
Have a great Tuesday, Buddies!

OH WOW what a reaction! - I know what you mean though - I did wheat and sugar at the same time - out of ketosis instantly and had a headache for 2 days...

Wow, that's some reaction! I hope the headache's gone, nothing worse than working through a bad headache. My weight spiked today as a result of this past weekend's carb binge. It took a little longer for me, but I'm up today. Live and learn.

As soon as I eat anything more than a small amount of wheat, I now get a reaction that is sort of asthmatic, and if I eat something wacky like a big piece of cake, my innards go into full scale revolt and I have to stay home for a day.

Wheat allergy is really what started me on this path. For a couple of years, I noticed that after eating a wheat-heavy meal, like pasta+bread, my heart would start acting funny. Skipping beats, racing, slowing. NOT FUN! And worse when it was wheat+sugar, like my beloved Krispy Kremes. I worried so much that my heart was going to give out, that I actually made a living will. One day the lightbulb went on, and I thought, try going without wheat for a month, and see. It didn't take a month. The very first day I had no wheat at all, no heart flutters. Within a week, my breathing improved. Fortunately, the 8 crackers didn't give me the heart symptoms, but the rest is enough to convince me. The headache was gone this morning, and this afternoon, the Ketostix are back in the deep purple range. Thanks everyone for your support!

It's a blessing to get a clear message like that. Now, when you go on your next cruise, you won't have to fight yourself to skip the cakes and pies. You will just know you can't tolerate them. I'm watching to see when the ex is referred to as the bf.
