Maxine smith's Journal, 10 Aug 17

this week is going to be a tough one. I am down to the weight I was a couple of months ago when I originally tried to lose weight. I cut calories for two weeks religiously and didn't lose a single pound. it was at that point I became despondent, eat what I wanted - within reason - and promptly put on a further half a stone. last week I managed to lose the extra half stone but today my weight loss has ground to a meer loss of 0.1kg. I'm continuing as I have been on 1000 calories per day of healthy eating and crossing my fingers.

Stick with it Maxine - there's all sorts of factors that can make it look as if you've not lost weight such as water retention, hormones, even a sluggish gut. It will happen in the end. All the best!

Slow and steady wins the race. It's not a sprint and to be concerned if your weight bounces back up now and again.

Try mixing up the amount of calories you eat. Stops the body getting used to a certain amount and slowing its output to match - perhaps try 1200 for a couple of days a week - or more for one day. The body will then think the lower calories are just a blip. Our bodies were designed a long time ago and work on survival. If you eat little every day then the body won't use more than you put in - this is why calories in less than calories out doesn't work for long - it's all about survival of the species.

I read a book about weight loss and it said you shouldn't eat below 1200kcal a day as a minimum. I stuck to between 1200 and 1300 most times and, while there were a couple of plateaus, I've dropped the 70 lbs that I'd originally wanted to lose (with some fluctuations of course). It wasn't easy and it took a couple of years. The plateaus sometimes lasted a month or two at a time but it eventually starts coming off again. Just remember that you'll get there! Have you got a goal? Mine was a fabulous pair of jeans. The shop only had them in a 14 and I was an 18. It worked pretty well until I dropped to a 12. 🙄 I loved those jeans but by that point my eating habits had changed so much that the weight kept coming off. It's totally going to happen for you! Keep going! ❤️

Hey Maxine. Do the Keto diet.. I've lost 4 stone since February with breaks, would be 5 or 6 without. Feel free to ask me any questions about it.

100 grams a day equals 3 kilos a month. I'd settle for that if it was offered to me

Stick with it. It's easy to cave in when the scales haven't moved. We all have times like this. Next week they'll have dropped.
