I had malaria and it's one of the most painful periods of my life. I lost my hearing, hallucinated, had skin so tender a sheet hurt it and had to put up with the old bird in the next bed pray over me without asking if I believed in her god. All-in-all not a great experience. Take those pills, don't miss one, we were given bad advice and took only one type of pill instead of two (it was a resistance period, you probably don't need both). Above all enjoy it, I am still SO jealous! 

heidij123 You have gone at the best time of year for least chance of being bitten, but taking precautions are always best. Stay well and enjoy the time.
