Some joyous news on a few fronts! I hit 16 modified floor push ups yesterday! I was only set to increase by 1, but my body told me I had another one in me, so my muscles said hello to 16 instead of 15! Woohoo!

Still remembering when I thought I might collapse just trying to get through 6. lol

My goal with the modified floor push up is to be strong enough at some point to do 60 and then revert to a "full push up position". I have never in my life been able to achieve a push up in any "un-modified" position. I look forward to the day I can hop on here and report that good news :-)

I also slept a wonderful 7 and 1/2 hours last night, with only one coughing spell. I've been doing a half a capful of the mucinex cough medicine before I go to bed and if I wake up coughing, I do another half. That seems to do the trick. I definitely feel A LOT less sick and it felt so nice to get a decent nights sleep. I've also been taking 1 claritin in the mornings to help with any impact allergies are having on my sinus cavities. And, I might very well continue doing this for the next 6 weeks to mitigate my summer allergies. My nose is still mildly stuffy, but so far I've been clear on any sinus headaches.

I'm hoping my ability to taste and smell will be returning soon.

In other good news, my fitbit has been telling me my heart rate is back down to around 60-65 BPM, which is my average and considered very good for my age and gender. Actually, average resting heart rate for an athlete is around 50 BPMs. Don't get me wrong I appreciated the fat burn from my elevated heart beat last week when I was sick. But, it's equally good to know my heart is no longer in stress mode, which tells me my body is on the mend.

I was up again in weight by .6 lbs this a.m. at 193.8, but I kind of expected it as I usually have some water retention due to inflammation the days after I increase intensity and reps. Since I threw swimming in on top of my workout routine yesterday, I was definitely feeling it by the end of the evening. I only meant to do 16 laps in the pool, but ended up doing 20.

Have I said how much I love the pool? It's hard not to over do it when I'm in there. It felt like bathwater yesterday, it was absolutely blissful. I'm horrible too, because if I think I've lost count, I'll do another few laps just to make sure I have my count right. LOL. Really, it's just any excuse to get another lap in.

Anywho, by the time evening arrived, I was gingerly making my way down the stairs feeling every muscle in this body say, "oh, you can plan to see this pain in gain on the scale tomorrow"

One of the benefits about reducing my cheat day to just a cheat meal is that I can now honestly see how many of my small weight gains during the week are attributed to inflammation in this body. I'm actually getting to a place where I can almost predict it will happen based on the range of muscle or joint pain post workout. It's better that an ESR and CRP test only I don't have to donate so much damn blood.

Take for instance last Thursday morn where I had a mild .8 lb gain after the second day in a workout cycle, though I kept the intensity low from being sick. I dropped .2 lbs on Friday morning after having a recovery day, but gained another .6 lbs this a.m., culminating in a 1.2 lb water weight gain from the last stated low. But, we also increased intensity and reps on Friday. It will be interesting to see if we have further gains tomorrow and Monday morning as I do have workouts planned for today and tomorrow, but with the same intensity and reps (no increases). Although, bet your bottom dollar I'm getting in the pool, too! lol

Either way, we can say motrin will be a lovely companion for the next couple of days. But, it's worth it and I'll have all day Monday and part of Tuesday to relax. It's too beautiful outside to stay indoors and way to beautiful not to enjoy an opportunity to move this body!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Egull, have you tried the Neilmed stuff for your allergies? The netipot or his sinus bottle and rinse? They work pretty well. Kind of hard to get used to doing, but I think easier on the body than meds and they help keep the sinuses moist and clear.

Hi SMP! Yes, I have the netipot and I used a couple of times last week, especially when I wasn't able to breathe through my nose. I purchased it a while back when the doctor had first diagnosed my sinus infection due to allergies because I didn't want to be on the claritin for as long as she wanted me to be. The claritin works, but you're right, it is a bit rough and makes me feel a bit loopy and dizzy. The neti pot works okay, but when I've gotten to the point where I'm getting those brain splitting headaches, I turn to the claritin. I probably won't go a full 6 weeks on it, but I think part of the reason why my allergies are being so sensitive is because they're being aggravated by the last vestiges of this flu. Likewise, I think the flu was further intensified by the allergies. Once this flu gets out of my system, I think I can stop taking the claritin and (cross your fingers and toes) my sinuses won't be so swollen up. Ha! Every time I work out and sweat, I try to imagine all the flu germies being sweated out, LOL. I don't know that this is happening, but it makes me feel better ;-)
