Update, FS buddies: Matthew is truly upon us now. Since about 2 PM Eastern, we've had varying intensities of rain. Very little wind so far, but a couple of possible tornadoes within a 50 mile radius. Right now, we're in the midst of a pretty heavy rain band, and flash flood warnings are being issued. But the trees out back aren't swaying at all. Top speeds expected overnight are only 25-35 mph, with gusts up to 60. My 50 gallon Jacuzzi tub is full of water, in case there are problems with water delivery; all my flashlights and lanterns have fresh batteries/fuel; all outside furniture and loose items are stowed/secured. The worst of the hurricane should move through here between midnight and dawn. It's going to be a long night. I have 3 different options for shelter if something catastrophic happens to my house, but it doesn't look like things are going to get that bad. It looks like Matthew intends to come ashore just south and east of me. This is a good thing, because once it makes landfall the strength will fall dramatically. I haven't been eating much, because of the nervous energy. What I have eaten, has been way off plan, and go figure...I had a whoosh today. For anyone in the path of this storm, I send you love and protection vibes. Hopefully, I will check in tomorrow. ~Kes
