FOOD FOR THOUGHT......

Assumptions
If 1kg of fat = 3500 cal
My basal metabolic rate = 2325 cal (thats the energy burnt from doing nothing like leaving the car engine running in terms of petrol consumption)
A normal day one burns say 1620 cal

Therefore......if you want to lose 1kg a day (not that this is healthy) one could conclude...

2325cal + 1620cal = 3945cal then minus 3500 cal

so 3945cal - 3500cal = 445cal

Conclusion
if you eat 445 cal a day one should lose a kg a day......
