Little health update: Current lower body physique shot. Those glutes and quads are coming along nicely. I lost so much of these muscle groups at 112 lbs. I felt like a pre pubescent boy! But all those hill runs and cycling during 70.3 training helped immensely. My core, glutes, hamstrings and quads are critical for my balance as any good OT and PT knows. Currently I’m at 122 lbs. And, calipers read at around 15-16% body fat. Both mom and I agree this range and physique works the best for me. All my clothes still fit, but now I actually fill them out, which is nice. And, this MS’er loves the added support from all that new muscle in the lower body, especially if I start to trip or stumble - I can right myself so quickly! Body fat % is a bit lean but the sport anemia kind of screws with one’s appetite. It’s coming back though, my hemoglobin and me are on the mend!

Glad to see you posting. What are the winter training plans looking like?

Thank you Kat, Leah, and Ice! I'm genuinely thankful to be maintaining here. This body definitely had a rough time of it this month. I had a hard reaction to the pneumonia and Covid vaccine and then for whatever reason I had an allergic reaction to the contrast dye for the MRI. My poor heart rate has been all over the place. But, we're finally over the bend and the hives are gone! Thank goodness. As for training plans - we're holding steady with alternating between 75 minutes on the bike, and then the next day is 40 minutes bike warm up with about 75-90 minutes of strength training. The third day is always a rest day. So, basically 2 days on, 1 day off. I now also alternate between upper and lower body for strength training days. I find it really helps me focus on proper form and allows for better recovery outcomes. I do have a goal of going past 280 watt pr on the bike and hitting 300 watts. But, we'll see! I'm just to be feeling normal again after this last month's craziness!

Awww, thank you Sk.17 {{big hugs}}. I'm trying to keep up the good fight ;-) This body is rolling into 50 years of age in just a couple of days - I want to give her the best possible foundation to work with as the golden years stretch ahead :-)

That contrast dye is an allergen for me too. I'm allergic to octopus, squid and jellyfish and weirdly, apparently that dye is somehow related, chemically.

So Egull, did you suddenly develop an allergy to the contrast dye? I asked because they always ask me if I'm allergic to the contrast dye when I get my MRI'S which I thought at the time was kind of odd cuz I assumed it would be in my chart if I was allergic to it since I've been having so many of these MRI'S every time I go to the doctor... Although if it's not uncommon to develop an allergy suddenly to the contrast dye then that could explain why they're always asking me with that question. Sorry been having such a hard time of it and it's amazing how long it can take to recover from a significant allergy issue. I have a friend who had an allergy issue and they gave her the wrong kind of steroid which he also happened to be allergic to and it's been a battle for her health for the last 8 months. I do hope that you start feeling a little better thank goodness that you have finally started to feel more like yourself
