Soooooooooo beyond nervous about this upcoming interview.

So...from what I've heard around I may have a general idea of what will be at the oral exam but I'll freak out if I plan for one thing and get another so not quite sure what to do/think.

From what I hear, they'll give me scenarios and ask me what I'd do under those circumstances and I'll have to write out my responses. Then I'll go in to a room and they'll verbally ask me about the questions and my responses.

I've also heard around that I could possibly have program skill tests thrown at me, and the idea of that terrifies me because I'm a smart cookie and I'm knowledgeable on a lot of programs but I might be rusty on a lot of their features I don't use very often.

It's frustrating not knowing what programs they might test me on because, realistically, I can't learn how to use every program out there by April 9th!

I also know that I need to brush up on my grammar and punctuation because I'm all too aware that I've become lazy over the years with my writing because it hasn't been utilized that much.

Anybody have any experience with needing to brush up on so many things on such short notice? Recommendations are really appreciated!

Part of me is so intimidated thinking I don't deserve this job because there's going to be an admin that's currently using all of these skills and isn't rusty and they should get the job, not me. Another part of me knows I'm smart and capable and knows I'll learn what they need and I'll learn fast and be great at it so I shouldn't knock myself.

:sigh:

Also, a great attitude goes a long way, positive, confident but not a know it all...

I’m in the same position. Don’t give yourself an ulcer. That’s my advice. 😔

Read up on impostor syndrome. The interviewers don't need you to show them you think you're a fraud--they might actually think you're well qualified for the job! Because maybe you really are!

I interview people all the time! Went to a recent seminar and the speaker said- Hire for personality and train for skills. So don't sell yourself short! Good employees are hard to find.
