no as frozen broccoli and sprouts are blanched before freezing, if you defrost before cooking you run the risk of the broccoli loosing is consistency and shape. I would always recommend following the instructions.

Just veg, I’d always thought they were blanched but normal a cross is cut into the stem? 🤔

That is just to ensure they cook evenly and the stem is more dens they should cook fine without

The cross in the stem isn't necessary and can make them soggy when cooked - https://www.bbc.com/food/brussels_sprouts. Recently there was something on the TV that maintains that the cross was cut into the sprout to get rid of the little devils lurking in them - medieval superstition carried on to this day, sorry can't remember what the program was. Anyway just enjoy your sprouts 😃😃
