Which island(s) are you going to be visiting? And I will recommend one dish that is popular here: poke (pronounced poe-kay). It is raw fish of some sort (normally tuna called Ahi) with some sesame oil and maybe onion and sesame seed added. You can skip the rice it is sometimes served with. Not a lot of calories, hardly any carbs, but big on flavor. I don't know what WoE you follow, but it pretty much fits with any.

Thanks LZenn I'll have to keep that in mind!! Love raw fish and sesame oil :). I just eat meat and veggies so that fits too :). Oh, and I'm going to Oahu!

congrats on almost there! there are lots of ways to enjoy yourself and I hope you live it to the limit! there are so many things to do and sites to enjoy. and remember when you are busy you will burn some serious calories! so eat well, there are tons of exotic foods you can safely eat too. vacations don't come often.

You are going to have so much fun traveling alone. When I worked, did so and always had a good time. Hawaii has so many non-food activities and the fruits are marvelous! Enjoy!

I like talking to strangers. I find that if you’re up front that you just want conversation, you can meet really interesting people.

Have fun but be careful and stay aware of your surroundings. Hawaii keeps it quiet but criminals figure most people can't afford to come back and testify so they figure they're free to do as they please. Hopefully it's gotten better since 1984. You can have a great time there but you have to be on your toes, especially if you go to remote locations. Congratulations on your weight loss and have a great time!

Ahola! I went in March and I had no difficulty in food choices, lots of fresh fish available with veggies, I ate more fruit than I normally do but walking so much took care of the extra carbs. Have a wonderful time, I will be thinking of you. Enjoy.

I love traveling on my own. very liberating! Definitely great to celebrate your journey of transformation.
I live here in Hawaii, on the Island of Oahu, and here's some recommendations on healthy places.
We eat A LOT of rice and noodles here but most of the time they'll have brown or "hapa" (brown and white mix) alternatives.
the best poke is at the grocery store! check out foodland at Ala Moana mall, or even at the Whole Foods on queen st. (they have a self serve poke bar)
Genki sushi and Grylt are "affordable" (everything is expensive here lol) chains.
Da Spot, Peace Cafe are amazing plant based restaurants
if you want meat with locally grown sustainable produce, checkout Kaimuki Superette(it's a lunch spot in a trendy neighborhood)
on the west side there's Kahumana Organic Farm & Cafe. hands down the best place to eat on that side of the island
north shore has beet box cafe in Haleiwa and Kailua. plus a bunch of other little delicious food trucks with healthy options.
on the windward (NE) side there's Ai Love Nalo and then there's soooo many options in Kailua like Leahi Health, Lovin Oven, Casa Blanca, another Whole foods.
I really hope this helped. Lucky you're coming to visit while we've got beautiful weather 😄💓
