I read the article but it does not take into account "Insulin Resistance" https://bit.ly/2A2lVln - For me, I binge on carbs and the 'damage' will be a lot higher than they describe :) I guess their test subjects did not have their blood sugar spike for an extended period as their body produced more and more (fat producing) insulin trying to bring it down :) For a normal person this may not happen, but I monitor my blood sugar and it is amazing (and scary) to eat a Big Mac, check your blood glucose, watch it shoot up, then check it hours later, and it is still high, then the next day and it is still high...

It shouldn't take 3 to 4 days of extreme dieting to lose the 3.5 pounds of "water weight." You should lose water weight in just a couple of days with just a decrease in carbs and an increase of water. At least that is what it is for me. But my binge eating cheat day use to have me dieting off that 4 to 5 pounds gain all week long. If it were just water weight, it would go along with all the fat I'd be burning and dieting off all week.

Adef thank you for the insight you're right...and that is scary! I wonder if people that don't have diabetes but find they don't process sugar and carbs well might have a bigger consequence as well...because i feel like my consequences are worse.

If I binge on fats, no problem. I am T2D, so it takes a couple of weeks to get rid of Carb binges.

this is the best time to load up on your protein and carbs as you can take advantage of the insulin spike, no fats or low fats as fat will go directly into storage at this time.

@adefwebserver I was looking for her posts all this week. We miss hearing from ya, Sharon. I have been kind of a bad week with my eating this week, too. Not sure what has done the most on my backslide, but I have been hitting the sugars a little too hard. Hope things are going well for ya.

Alcohol also must be processed through the liver and kidneys. Many who are overweight and drink have fatty liver. It's not just a problem for alcoholics. Alcohol can also slow your weight loss progress.

Yeah, fat is the worst macro for losing fat, especially since it converts directly to fat, but the difference is so small it won't matter too much. Protein is king.
