heidij123's Journal, 01 May 17

Had a busy and tiring week last week. I played bass for the ukulele group at a concert at the old folks' home on Wednesday. The couple of days before it I put in a lot of practice, as I hadn't done done much before, and didn't really know the songs. I love my bass, but it does make my back ache. The concert was a blast, though, we all really enjoyed it, probably more than the residents did!

Also put in a lot of effort towards organising the Popsters party, and sorting out arrangements and music for that. That's another one of my bright ideas, having an end of season party at a local bar/restaurant for our music group, so that we can all invite our friends along and show off! It should be a fun night of music, dancing, food etc. But has taken a lot more organising than I thought.

This week it will be back to the bass practice on some new songs we'll be playing, so more backache! I'm enjoying learning 'Stuck in the Middle With You', have wanted to do it for ages, but we didn't have a suitable singer before, and we do now, hooray! The party is a week on Thursday. After that I'm gonna take it easy 🏖

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot, we have friends coming to stay on Saturday for a few days as well.... One is vegan, so no eating out possible!

Some challenges finishing today, and my weight is not down as much as I would have liked over the last couple of months. That's mainly due to gaining weight on holiday and having to lose it again! But never mind, weight IS down over the last eight weeks, so even though it's only a couple of pounds, I'm happy enough with that.

You love being in Spain with your friends, I'm betting you will miss them as you head back to England for the summer soon. Are you cooking vegan?

Ahhh, Stealers Wheel, it's my Cape Town song (I lived there in the late 80s/early 90s) and it always lifts my spirits. You have lost so much weight a slight blip won't harm that. I'm dreading tomorrow after an odd day of rice indulgence yesterday . . !

You are a wonderfully talented person. The party sounds like great fun and I know you'll have a big turn out.

Thanks, all! Jeri, I will be cooking vegan, with a meat option. She has said she will also cook, and doesn't mind cooking meat for others, which I would never do when I was vegetarian! Yes, I will miss friends here, but I'll get to see others over there, and will be back here soon enough! Wouldn't want to be here in the heat!

Glen, going in 3-4 weeks, and looking forward to the trip home, hopefully through Brittany, Ireland and Wales 😀

Trout, I will think of you when I'm playing it 😀 We're going to Namibia in July, maybe you went there while you were in SA? Sounds lovely!

Brenda, not I'm really talented. I had an awful lot of piano lessons when I was a child, so it's easier to get the hang of other instruments now. It is mostly to do with working hard at it, though!

Heidi, you must be taking the long way around to get home this year. LOL You and Mike just hate to travel. ;) nice that you cook some vegetarian for your friend. Vegan could be a challenge.
