I feel I am falling into a bit of a yo-yo trap now. It's fair enough that I eat out and gain a little sometimes, no worries about that. But my goal is still to see weight falling very, very slowly, so I would like to see a 'new low' sometimes - not necessarily every week, and it only has to be a tenth of a pound, but I do want to see a slight downward trend over time.

So I think I need a new 'eating rule', that if I splurge and weight goes up, I can't do it again until I've seen a new low! That doesn't mean I can't eat out, of course, just that I need to eat moderately when I do.

Anyway, I have some new skinny jeans that just about fit, and it would be nice if they could be a shade looser! They make me laugh! I can get them on okay, but have to peel them off, lol! 🚨 I just had an idea - I need to wear the jeans when eating out! Why didn't I think of that before? 😀😀😀

Sounds like a plan. It looks like you're in a good maintenance mode ... just 1.6kg higher than you'd like to be. You'll crack it in the end - you always do!

I find eating out very difficult. I leave the house with good intentions but they fade as soon as I look at the menu. Mind you, the jeans sound like a good idea. Good luck.

Heya Heidi - I think if you want to see it actually falling sufficient that you notice it (I mean, one could be losing .1 kg a month in bodyfat, but fluctuations would mask that over a MUCH longer period).....you may have to revert to at least a -250 or so deficit if you want to be sure you're seeing reductions in a more encouraging timeframe. Granted - this is just anecdotal, but you know how I've been doing things, and I've found that the last 3 months or so, maintaining a -100/-125 average below Fitbit numbers over the course of the last 3 months is yielding almost a flat line. Granted, this is exacerbated in my case by actively weight training/deadlifts, etc, so to some extent I'm going off noting visual small changes, measurements, how clothes fit, etc. (and LOL re: skinny jeans! One thing about them - they tell no lies, they will help keep you on the track for sure!)

Thanks folks. Snoop, I leave the house intending to have a good time at the moment! My calorie deficits the rest of the week make up for that. But that only works for one meal out per week. If I eat out twice, I need to be a bit more careful. I think the new rule, and wearing the skinny jeans, will help with that. I'm trying to avoid counting calories properly at the moment, just estimating based on experience. And I think the fact that I've now got it in my head that I really do want to lose a bit more, and not just maintain and see what happens, is an attitude shift that will make me pay attention to what I'm eating ALL of the time. But if it doesn't work, my backup plan is I will start counting calories again and lose the pounds that way! I think this is all part of a learning curve that I need to go through. I suppose my ultimate aim with all this to be able to eat sensibly without having to think about it all the time 😬😀
