heidij123's Journal, 19 Oct 15

Now settled back in Spain. Weighing in kilos, getting used to different foodstuffs available, working out some walks I can do. Considering cycling options too. It is more hilly here, so it's going to be tough, but I'll just have to get out and do it! If I end up walking at times, well, it's all exercise!

Have been eating on plan the last three days, but haven't got back into 5:2 yet. Will have to change fast days - probably Tuesdays plus one other day later in the week, which will have to be variable to fit in with whatever we are doing, as we tend to eat out more here. There's more socialising, and eating out is really good value, typically about 12€ to 15€ for a 3-course meal including half-bottle of wine. But I can generally have a salad starter, and fresh fruit for dessert, so there shouldn't be too much damage.

Looking forward to losing more weight over the next six months, hopefully dropping another clothing size, having more energy, and getting fitter and healthier 😀 Fingers crossed that it all goes to plan!

I like your plan of action, it is doable, relevant to your winter life style, and fun!

It's good to flexible with your eating. As long as you watch the calories you should be fine. Any exercise is better than no exercise.

Bienvenidos Espana, Heidi! Like your plan -- we have similar goals as I would ideally like to drop just one more clothing size, but more importantly get fitter, healthier and a touch more energetic -- let's reach our goals together and toast our mutual success in person Spring '16! :) As for fasting, I've been experimenting with 16:8 fasting the past several days -- haven't weighed in yet today, plus I 'misbehaved' (not fasting-wise, but food-wise) a couple of days last week, so not sure I will get a good feel for results just yet -- is that something you've looked into or considered? Might be a better fit for your Spanish lifestyle?

I agree Heidi on what Scalewatcher3 said, " I like your plan of action, it is doable, relevant to your winter life style, and fun!"

Thanks for your support, all. It makes me feel much more confident about doing this! Don't think I could manage 16:8 fasting, Leigh Ellen, I like snacking! Also, I can eat an awful lot in 8 hours 😈 I think for me fast days are better. Interested to see how you get on, though!

Getting into a rhythm when loosing weight is key, no matter where you are. I am sure with your determination you will do that quickly.

Yes, Jo, winter in Spain, summer in UK.

Mindfull, in still struggling to get into that rhythm! I want to eat biscuits all the time, and my feet and ankles are aching so I don't want to walk. Back and shoulders aching too, which is putting me off cycling. I think I'll give it a few more days and see if it settles down. If not, it will be paracetamol, and get out and do it anyway.
